Magnesium threonate – magnesium bound to the amino acid L-threonic acid
Magnesium threonate is a mineral salt consisting of magnesium bound to the amino acid L-threonic acid. Magnesium L-threonate has the unique ability to cross the blood-brain barrier in humans, thereby increasing magnesium levels in the brain.
For this reason, Brain-Mag® is not just a magnesium supplement, but a ‘brain-friendly’ dietary supplement.
Magnesium is generally an essential mineral that plays a key role in over 300 processes necessary for a healthy body. However, not all magnesium is easily absorbed by the brain.
Magnesium in its L-threonate form, on the other hand, is easily absorbed – precisely because of its ability to cross the blood-brain barrier. This means that its effects are primarily felt in this environment.
