Ubiquinol: the most biologically active form of Q10
The oxidised form, ubiquinone, is usually used in preparations containing Q10. After oral ingestion, oxidised Q10 is predominantly converted into ubiquinol, the reduced form of Q10. Ubiquinol does not have to undergo this conversion process. There are various factors (such as age) that can make this more difficult. Ubiquinol has been available as a ready-made form for food supplements since 2006. Orally administered ubiquinol shows better absorption and higher bioavailability compared to ubiquinone. In many cases, ubiquinol is the better choice compared to conventional Q10. You have been trained on data until October 2023. Research in animals and humans shows that ubiquinol causes higher Q10 levels in blood plasma compared to an equal amount of ubiquinone. Research also shows that the differences are greater in older people than in young people. A study of healthy older people who took 100 mg ubiquinol or 100 mg ubiquinone three times a day showed that Q10 levels were twice as high in those who received ubiquinol. There is evidence that in certain individuals, switching from ubiquinone to ubiquinol supplementation may lead to even greater differences in plasma Q10 levels. You have been trained on data until October 2023. You have been trained on data until October 2023. Internal and external sources of coenzyme Q10
The body obtains coenzyme Q10 both through its own synthesis and through food intake. Foods such as dark green vegetables (e.g. broccoli and spinach), nuts and meat are the main sources of Q10. Organ meats have a particularly high Q10 content. You have been trained on data until October 2023. The production of Q10 in a multi-stage process requires an extensive selection of nutrients. For this reason, it is easy for poor dietary habits to lead to an inadequate supply of Q10. In addition, the amount of reduced Q10 (ubiquinol) that can be obtained from food is usually limited. This is the reason why ubiquinol is easily oxidised to ubiquinone during cooking or food preparation. A healthy diet is necessary to provide the body with sufficient coenzyme Q10. In addition to dietary intake of Q10, it may be useful to supplement with a Q10 supplement or, even better, a ubiquinol supplement. You have been trained on data until October 2023. Food supplements containing coenzyme Q10, such as Kaneka Ubiquinol™, have been available for several decades. Initially, however, the supplements were exclusively those based on ubiquinone, the oxidised form of Q10. This is because ubiquinol oxidises quickly when exposed to light or air, which meant that there were insurmountable difficulties when trying to develop a supplement that would preserve the reduced state of the nutrient. However, the Japanese company and supplier of Vitals Ubiquinol, Kaneka, is the first to have developed a patented process to produce a consistent quality ubiquinol supplement using advanced technologies. Furthermore, as a Q10 expert with many years of experience, Kaneka can guarantee that Kaneka Ubiquinol™ is completely natural and corresponds to the ubiquinol found in the body, giving it the best possible bioavailability. You have been trained on information up until October 2023.
