p-Aminobenzoic acid
P-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) is an organic carboxylic acid, a building block of folic acid and is often categorised as a B vitamin, but is not a vitamin. PABA offers the body various health benefits, although it is not an essential nutrient. PABA is important for the metabolism as it helps bacteria in the intestine to produce folic acid. This substance is a powerful antioxidant and is used to strengthen the body inside and out. PABA is particularly well known for its benefits for skin and hair. It improves skin elasticity, can reduce wrinkles and counteracts skin ageing. It can also prevent premature greying of the hair and preserve the natural hair colour for longer. PABA used to be an important ingredient in sun creams as it protects against UVB rays. In addition to these aesthetic effects, PABA supports the metabolism of proteins and the formation of red blood cells. It is also used for diseases of the connective tissue. It is also used for connective tissue hardening (such as scleroderma) to make the tissue more supple... Read more

Strengthening the body's defences and intestinal health
PABA promotes healthy intestinal flora by stimulating the production of folic acid by intestinal bacteria. It is also said to stimulate the immune system, making it easier for the body to fight off infections.
Occurrence in food and food supplements
PABA is naturally found in foods such as wheat germ, liver, yoghurt, brewer's yeast and molasses. As the body can partially produce PABA itself, a deficiency is rare. Nevertheless, an additional intake, especially together with other B vitamins, can be beneficial for certain skin problems, hair loss or weak connective tissue.
Summary
PABA is an important, often underestimated substance that protects the skin and hair as an "elixir of youth", strengthens the connective tissue and improves the overall health of the cells
