Betaine
Betaine is described both as an amino acid derviate and as a vitamin-like substance. Betaine can be obtained from foods such as broccoli, spinach or beetroot. It is produced in the body as a degradation product of choline. Its importance is primarily due to its ability to break down homocysteine.
