Liver and bile, crucial for metabolism
The human organism continually performs remarkable feats to maintain homeostasis and nutrient utilisation. The liver acts as a central laboratory, while the bile primarily supports the emulsification of fats in the digestive tract. Dietary supplements aim to supplement these physiological processes with specific herbal ingredients, vitamins and minerals, especially if the current diet or lifestyle requires additional support. Specific components can help to maintain the regular function of liver cells. As the liver is involved in almost all metabolic processes - from protein synthesis to vitamin storage - many supplements are designed to energise these diverse functions. This is less about correcting deficiencies and more about proactively supporting the body's own system... Read more

Bitter substances as traditional support
Bitter substances are a tried and tested remedy in herbal medicine. In the past, they were found in large quantities in numerous vegetable varieties, but have largely been removed from modern cultivars. Food supplements restore these valuable substances. Bitter substances, such as those contained in artichokes or dandelions, promote the flow of digestive juices. This is particularly important for the bile, as active bile production improves the emulsifying effect in the intestine and can therefore promote a sense of well-being after a sumptuous meal.
Protection through antioxidants
The liver is an organ with a high metabolic activity in which free radicals are naturally produced. Antioxidant substances such as vitamin E, selenium or secondary plant substances from milk thistle (especially silymarin) are often used to protect the cells from oxidative stress. This protective mechanism promotes the integrity of cell structures, which is intended to strengthen the organ's resistance in the daily cycle of synthesis and degradation.
The importance of choline and amino acids
Choline is an often underestimated nutrient whose contribution to the maintenance of normal liver function is scientifically recognised. It supports the transport of fats and prevents a one-sided accumulation of metabolic intermediates in the tissue. Likewise, amino acids such as L-ornithine or taurine are often used in combination to support the body's regeneration phases. These components help to keep the daily transformation processes running smoothly and maintain the body's own performance.
