Calcium is primarily known as a component of bones and teeth. However, the importance of this essential nutrient is far more diverse. Calcium also plays an important role in the normal function of muscles, the transmission of signals between nerve cells and the normal function of blood clotting. As it can only be absorbed through food, it is important to ensure a sufficient supply. Health tip from EnergyVital: The intestine cannot absorb more than 500 mg of calcium at a time, so take a maximum of 5 capsules at a time. Milk and cheese also contain a lot of calcium. Many calcium supplements on the market contain very high doses and are therefore unsuitable if you just want to supplement your diet or if they are intended for children.
