Curcumin-SLCP™: a technological breakthrough

Overcoming the problems of absorption and bioavailability is the most significant challenge in the development of curcumin preparations with optimal efficacy. This is because curcumin in its "unprocessed" form is rapidly converted into inactive metabolites such as curcumin glucuronide in the intestine and liver after consumption, which are quickly excreted by the body. After years of research and co-operation with the University of California (UCLA), the manufacturer of Vitals Curcumin-SLCP™, Verdure Sciences, has succeeded in solving these problems. Thanks to their patented technology, they have increased the absorption of curcumin by 65 times and the bioavailability by 285 times (compared to standard curcumin preparations, which consist of 95% curcumin). After testing numerous different formulations for bioavailability in humans, this breakthrough was achieved. The most effective results were achieved with a formulation originally used in Indian cuisine, where turmeric is combined with oily ingredients to make curry pastes. The curcumin preparation Longvida® utilises so-called solid lipid curcumin particles, in which curcumin is enclosed in a fat particle consisting of three long-chain fats that are also found in food: Phosphatidylcholine, stearic acid and ascorbyl palmitate.

Ingredients

Curcumin (extract from Curcuma longa), stabilisers (stearic acid, phosphatidylcholine [from soya lecithin]), hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (vegetable capsule), rice starch (Oryza sativa), maltodextrin, anti-caking agents (silicon dioxide, magnesium salts of fatty acids), antioxidant (ascorbyl palmitate).

Recommended intake

Take 1 capsule per day with water with a meal.
