You can do without plastic too!

Dear customers!
Here is a brand new video tip: https://t1p.de/Recycling-Luege
The issue of packaging waste and especially plastic waste is very important to us.
I have no illusions: We won't save the world with the little we can do!
But at least we can tell our grandchildren that we weren't part of this madness, and that's worth a lot to us.
Some time ago, we put this topic on our agenda and have managed to get by with 0 g of plastic in our packaging!
So no more polystyrene flips, no more bubble wrap, no more plastic tape and nothing else that can't be recycled in the compost or waste paper plant.
Of course, bubble wrap is the lightest and safest way to ship bottles or anything made of glass, unfortunately. Our current cardboard cushioning materials have considerably more volume and weight, which results in larger parcels. But I think in terms of environmental impact, plastic and polystyrene would be worse than the minimal increase in fuel consumption at DHL if our parcel weighed 550 g instead of 500 g, for example.
However, many of our suppliers still use plastic in the form of bubble wrap. Disposing of this and replacing it with cardboard padding to make it look "eco" would be nothing more than greenwashing, because the film was produced and is in the world and our eco-packaging also costs energy and resources to produce.
Seen in this light, there is of course no such thing as "environmentally friendly" packaging, cars, heating systems etc., there are only "less harmful" ones!
So don't be surprised if a bottle has been wrapped in bubble wrap. We only reuse materials that have been sent to us with orders, regardless of whether they are goods deliveries or normal office supplies. And because we only use material that was "involuntarily" sent to us with orders and that is now better off being reused than thrown away, and only very little of it, we believe that this does not conflict with the reference to plastic-free shipping.
One problem is packaging tape, which is made of paper and has very little adhesive strength and tear resistance.
Our main supplier Biobiene has found a very good solution to this problem: An adhesive tape that has the properties of plastic adhesive tape, but is not made of plastic, but of a harmless degradable material: Monta Biopack 860 Compostable Packaging Tape | Plastic-Free Packaging Material & Packaging (biobiene.com)
So please don't be surprised if you receive a parcel from us with our plastic-free label on it, but it appears to have been sealed with plastic tape. It is not plastic.
Admittedly, not all manufacturers find this sensible. We have a lot of contacts in the online shop scene and some people smile at it. But we stand by it, even if it means more work and money for us.
Here's to a hopeful look into a greener future!
