Natural monk's pepper extract

Monk's pepper (Vitex agnus castus) is a spice plant from the labiate family and can grow up to 4 metres high. Originally found in the Mediterranean region and western Asia, it prefers water-rich areas. As well as the names 'chaste tree', 'chaste lamb', 'straw of love' or 'tanis', monk's pepper is also known as 'monk's pepper'. Monk's pepper has been used in natural medicine and ritual ceremonies for thousands of years. It was used in ancient Greek fertility ceremonies and in the Middle Ages to facilitate chastity for monks and nuns. The fruits of the monk's pepper, which have a spicy flavour, were used as a pepper substitute in monastery kitchens. Usually only the fruits of the monk's pepper bush are used, which are processed in tea or as a high-dose dry extract in the form of capsules or tinctures.
