PCR determination of parasites in faeces

The new multiplex real-time PCR offers significantly higher sensitivity compared to previous immunological or microscopic parasite detection methods. The innovative screening method enables a differentiation between the various pathogens that is decisive for treatment!

Parasites can cause severe diarrhoea and severe abdominal pain, especially if the immune system is weakened by stress or illness. In some cases, the disease can also spread to other organs. If left untreated, a parasite infestation can therefore lead to severe disease progression.

Infection with parasites often occurs in tropical or subtropical regions. It can take several years before the first symptoms appear, during which time it is possible to infect other people.

With our new PCR test (PCR = polymerase chain reaction), we can now offer you even more reliable and accurate tests for parasites.

The following parameters are analysed in this parasite PCR stool test:

Giardia lamblia and Cryptosporidium spp. Entamoeba histolytica is notifiable in some federal states such as Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony and Thuringia. Please note that the GANZIMMUN laboratory is legally obliged to pass on your contact details to the relevant health authority in the event of a positive result for a notifiable parasite infection.

How does the ordering process work?

Once you have placed your order, you will be sent the desired test pack with detailed instructions. You put your sample in a sample container, send it in a prepared envelope to Medivere's partner laboratory GANZIMMUN Diagnostics GmbH and receive a report with the evaluation of your profile after 5-7 days.
