S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAMe), an essential amino acid
There are around 500 amino acids in nature. 20 of these amino acids act as building blocks for the protein found in the human body; they are called "basic amino acids". These basic amino acids are categorised as "essential", "semi-essential" and "non-essential". Methionine is one of the essential amino acids, which means that the body cannot produce it itself from other amino acids and needs it to cover its daily requirements Methionine that is not integrated into proteins can be converted into S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe) by a reaction with ATP. This occurs primarily in the liver. One advantage of methionine as SAMe is that it is directly available to the body without the need for conversion.

Ingredients
S-adenosyl-L-methionine disulfatosylate, anti-caking agent (rice fibres), vegetable capsule (pullulan, from fermented manioc starch).
Recommended dosage
As a food supplement for adults, take 1-2 capsules per day between meals (at least half an hour before or two hours after eating). Limited shelf life after opening.
Caution
Do not take in combination with medications that affect brain metabolism, such as antidepressants and tranquillisers.
Storage instructions
Store in a cool, dry place away from light (not in the refrigerator).
