Sango coral, a member of the stony coral family, originated in Okinawa, Japan. This is a Japanese prefecture consisting of over 150 islands in the East China Sea. The island of the same name is the largest of the group and consists of wide beaches and coral reefs. Entire sandbanks of exfoliated sango coral lie on the seabed around the island.
Magnesium from the sango coral

Sango coral contains organic calcium and magnesium in a ratio of 2:1, which ensures optimal absorption in the body. This special composition makes sango coral very effective in remineralising bones, teeth, hair and fingernails.

In addition to magnesium, the coral also contains over 70 other minerals and trace elements, such as magnesium, copper, silicon, boron, germanium and iron.

We source our sango coral from the market leader in Okinawa. The corals are protected in Japan by strict government guidelines. The corals live and grow at depths of up to 30 metres, where they get enough sunlight and nutrients. The water depth of 30 metres extends to a strip about 500 metres wide around the island, then the seabed drops off steeply and only here does the government allow the fossil coral to be collected.

The powder for our sango coral is collected at depths of more than 60 metres and more than 1,000 metres from the shore; there are no living corals at these depths, only fossil corals. The sango coral powder is carefully tested and analysed so that we can guarantee you consistent quality at all times.
