Ubiquinol, the most biologically active variant of Q10

In preparations containing Q10, its oxidised form, ubiquinone, is usually used. After being taken by mouth, oxidised Q10 is largely converted into ubiquinol, the reduced form of Q10. This conversion process is not necessary when using ubiquinol. Since 2006, ubiquinol has been available in ready-to-use form for food supplements.
