A balanced and varied diet includes sufficient fibre, ideally from various sources. However, for many people who follow a Western diet, it is a challenge to consume enough fibre. A fibre supplement can therefore be a useful addition to the daily diet.

Dietary fibre: an essential part of our diet

It is well known that the average Western diet contains relatively little fibre. Dietary fibres are indigestible carbohydrates that cannot be broken down by the digestive enzymes in the small intestine and are instead (partially) fermented, "eaten" and transformed by bacteria in the large intestine. They can be regarded as the "food" of these essential microbes, which is why it is important that these fermentable fibres are consumed in sufficient quantities.

Fibre is naturally found in wholemeal products, fruit, vegetables and pulses, among other things. It is recommended to consume 30 to 40 grams of fibre per day. Unfortunately, the average fibre intake for adults is only around 20 g per day. There is definitely room for optimisation in this area. To increase your fibre intake, you can use a fibre supplement in addition to a healthy and balanced diet. Benicaros®: a novel and upcycled fibre from carrot pulp

Benicaros® is a novel active ingredient derived from a special carrot fibre known as Rhamnogalacturonan-I (RG-I). The Dutch company NutriLeads has developed a patented process to extract this fibre from the cell walls of carrots. Carrot pulp, which is obtained during the production of carrot juice manufactured in Europe, serves as the raw material. This makes Benicaros® a sustainable product. Several studies carried out in cooperation with Wageningen University and Amsterdam UMC confirm the advantages of this so-called precision fibre.

Inavea™ baobab and acacia fibre: combined, even more powerful acacia gum (also known as gum arabic) is obtained from the bark of the Acacia seyal tree. This substance is similar to resin, but unlike resin, gum is water-soluble and edible. Acacia gum has a naturally high fibre content and can be used in various foods. Nexira, the manufacturer, is an expert in acacia gum and can look back on decades of experience in cultivation, harvesting and processing. The company controls the entire production chain, which brings numerous advantages. The company is also very committed to sustainability and social responsibility. No pesticides are used on the trees during planting, and the harvesting and processing of the rubber into purified acacia fibres is also carried out sustainably.

Nexira has combined the acacia fibre in Ultimate Fibre Blend with baobab fibres. The fruit of the well-known African baobab tree, also known as the "tree of life", also provides a wealth of fibre. The two types of fibre complement each other perfectly. A smaller amount is sufficient than with the two fibres on their own.

Sunfiber®: established fibres from guar beans

In India, including very dry regions, the guar plant (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba) is cultivated in several growing areas. In India, the beans and leaves of this plant have been used as food for thousands of years and guar beans contain a large amount of soluble, fermentable fibre. Sunfiber® is the brand name for guar bean fibres that retain their high-quality, user-friendly properties, such as excellent water solubility, through a natural fermentation process. Guar bean fibres are one of the most commonly used types of fibre in scientific research. For this reason, they are indispensable in Ultimate Fibre Blend.

Ingredients

Fermented guar bean fibres (from Indian guar beans, Cyamopsis tetragonoloba, seeds), baobab fibres (Adansonia digitata, fruit), acacia fibres (Acacia seyal, gum), carrot extract (Daucus carota subsp. sativus, carrot), maltodextrin.

Recommended dosage

Take 1 level measuring spoon (10.85 g) per day with a meal. Mix with (approx. 200 ml) water or another liquid. The fibres can also be added to food (e.g. yoghurt).

Storage instructions

Store in a cool, dry place away from light (not in the refrigerator).
