Who needs to pay attention to vitamin B12
Vegans and, in some cases, vegetarians who do not consume milk and eggs must ensure that they get enough vitamin B12.
Vitamin B12 is absorbed in the large intestine. However, a considerable proportion is also formed by the bacteria in the large intestine.
People with chronic bowel problems (ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease) must therefore pay close attention to their vitamin B12 supply, as must people without a large intestine (e.g. after bowel cancer surgery).
The reason for this is that these people do not produce enough of their own B12.
