Assessing the vitamin status of adolescents

An unbalanced diet dominated by convenience foods can lead to drastic obesity even in childhood. The fulfilment of micronutrient requirements also often suffers from malnutrition. According to the EsKiMo study (which analysed the nutritional and health status of children and adolescents), children between the ages of 6 and 17 do not meet their calcium, vitamin D, E and folic acid requirements. Magnesium and zinc are also often deficient according to our own studies.
