Dental care chewing gum with natural xylitol and natural gum paste

Chicle - the chewing gum from XyliVita Nature - is the milky sap of the sapote tree (Manilkara Zapota), which is native to the tropical forests of the Yucatan Peninsula, Belize and Guatemala. Today, this region, known as the heart of the Mayan world and the Gran Petén, is the second largest land area covered with tropical rainforests on the American continent.

The sapote is the most common tree in the jungle of the Gran Petén. Sapote trees can reach a height of over 40 metres and a diameter of more than one metre. Chicle is harvested during the rainy season from July to February, when the latex sap flows better. To obtain this substance, known as chicle, the tree is provided with a series of interconnected, zigzag-like incisions from which the latex oozes out. To prevent the trees from dying, this procedure is only carried out every two or three years. There are currently around 5000 chyle harvesters working in the jungles of the Gran Petén.

The processing and production of XyliVita Natur takes place locally, which benefits the workers and the people. Chicle is 100% sustainable from an ecological and social point of view. The extraction of chicle also contributes to the preservation of the rainforest and its naturalness.

The harvest is controlled and certified by three institutions in addition to the Ministry of Ecology: FSC (sustainable forestry), Florida Organic Growers (organic farming) and Fair Trade e.V. (WildThinks, 2001).

Ingredients

Xylitol, chicle gum (from Mexican sapote trees), candelilla wax, sunflower lecithin, glycerine, gum arabic, natural spearmint flavouring.

All ingredients listed are of purely vegetable origin and guaranteed GMO-free.

Recommended intake

The daily recommendation for the tooth-protecting effect to unfold is 2-4 g xylitol. You can achieve this with three to four chewing gums a day after meals or in the evening after brushing your teeth.

Caution

Keep absolutely away from dogs, as xylitol is poisonous to dogs. Can have a laxative effect if consumed in excess.
