Ascorbyl palmitate - the fat-soluble vitamin C
Ascorbyl palmitate is a special form of vitamin C, which is formed from ascorbic and palm acid. Normally, vitamin C is only soluble in water. Ascorbyl palmitate, however, has the special feature of being soluble in water AND fat. This has the advantage that the vitamin C can reach areas of the cell that it normally cannot reach with pure water solubility. As vitamin C helps to protect the cell from oxidative stress, this property is particularly useful.
Ascorbyl palmitate can also cross the blood-brain barrier and have a positive effect there with its nutritive properties.
Compared to conventional vitamin C, this special form can also be stored in the body.
