EnergyVital is plastic-free
We are now plastic-free!
Demonstrating is good, doing something is also good!

EnergyVital is plastic-free.
Dresden's big Fridays for Future demo is currently starting in Alaunpark, just like everywhere else in the world today.
The people of Dresden have come up with a special start time for it: 5 to 12 - very fitting!
As Friday lunchtime is our most important working day in the shop, we are not joining in - but doing something that is just as important: today we are taking concrete steps to protect the environment in our online shop!
From today, we will only be buying products from the company Biobiene , which only has plastic-free packaging products in its range that also have to meet high environmental standards.
We use up any remaining packaging such as adhesive tape and bubble bags for the customers of our Amazon shop. We no longer use this for our own shop and we are not allowed to, as we had to sign a corresponding commitment to plastic-free shipping in order to be awarded the seal.
- We then use this instead of Tesa packing tape: Paper packing tape adhesive tape. Then our customers can finally put the entire parcel in the waste paper without pre-treatment.
- If it needs to be a little stronger, paper tape is not enough, then we use MONTA biopack PLA adhesive tape, which consists mainly of corn starch and is the first certified ecological adhesive tape made in Germany.
- Glass containers must be well padded, and we use this to replace bubble wrap: SUMO paper padded bags.
If it is not necessary for shipping security, these are not taped shut and customers can continue to use them. - For the padding, we then use this instead of bubble wrap from the roll: Bubble wrap paper.
- With our packaging chips, you can make your compost heap happy in future: Packaging chips
- And even customers from Switzerland, who need separate bags for customs documents, will receive their goods plastic-free in future: green paper delivery note bags.
We can continue to use our existing cardboard boxes, which have always been environmentally friendly and FSC-certified. However, once they have been used up, we will also purchase them from Biobiene, if only to support this innovative and forward-looking company even more.
Free samples of natural cosmetics will no longer be available without being asked, as they could be interpreted as packaging material, which would contradict our commitment to plastic-free packaging. However, customers can now actively order them.
However, once the stock has been used up, we won't be ordering any more, as it's actually madness from an environmental point of view, i.e. non-recyclable plastic bags plus colourfully printed flyers for 3 ml cosmetics!
At 5 to 12 I'm going to click on the first order - if that's not a good substitute for attending the demo today!
Addendum 02.10.2019
This documentary came on Arte today: https://www.arte.tv/de/videos/072571-000-A/die-ausbeutung-der-urwaelder/
(link has since been changed to YouTube, no longer available in the Artemediathek)
I'm lost for words with so much rip-off and fraud.
We also still have packaging with the imprint "FSC Mix" in stock, which, as you can see here, is completely worthless.
What a scam. And what luck that we started switching to Biobiene weeks ago.
After watching the documentary, I checked the Biobiene materials already in stock:
They bear either the Blue Angel or the eco-label of the German corrugated cardboard industry. No FSC, fortunately!
Some don't have a label, which doesn't have to be a bad thing or is often even a good thing. This is the case when a small manufacturer has had an innovative idea but cannot afford the often horrendous licence fees charged by certification organisations. Like the new cardboard box from Biobiene, for example, which is partly made of grass. There is no label for this unique new idea and there will be none in the future.
My experience in general, regardless of whether it is an organic seal, vegan seal or something else:
A small manufacturer from Germany with a direct contact person, who ideally also has a degree in environmental protection, is much more reliable than large companies that can afford a seal such as FSC, organic or vegan for a lot of money without really delivering quality!
In my experience, it is extremely unlikely that a qualified biologist, for example, who develops his products himself, will deceive his customers. On the other hand, I have already uncovered a case where a popular Dutch manufacturer had chicken offal certified vegan (with the ever-popular vegan flower from the Vegan Society England)!
Statisticians like to say: Don't trust a study that you haven't falsified yourself. In a variation, you could probably say: Don't trust any certificate that you haven't falsified yourself.
In our shop, we only trust direct contact with small, reliable manufacturers.
Another addendum from 20/02/2021:
Online shops must report the previous year's packaging quantities to the state every year. This is then used to calculate how much ZENTEK licence fees we have to pay. Plastic is particularly expensive, of course.
This time, for the first time in our history: 0 kg reported for plastic!
