Most effective form of vitamin D

Orthomolecular experts have long been aware of the importance of vitamin D supplementation. Government institutions in Europe have also been advising certain target groups to take vitamin D supplements for some time. There is therefore widespread agreement that vitamin D supplementation is necessary, especially in countries with infrequent sun exposure. It is indeed a challenge to consume enough of this important vitamin through the diet. However, the ideal dosage of vitamin D must be considered on an individual basis. It depends, among other things, on age, physique, lifestyle and the time of year, as well as the vitamin D level in the blood, if this has been measured.

The Vitals drops with vitamin D3 (1000 IU) contain at least 25 µg of vitamin D3 per drop. The practical pipette allows easy and exact dosing. It is a preparation for adult adults and children aged 11 and over who prefer to take drops instead of tablets or capsules. It is also easy to adjust the dosage of vitamin D3 according to need. While many vitamin D products in the form of drops nowadays use MCT oil, Vitals deliberately chooses a special sunflower oil that is naturally low in omega 6 and contains over 75% omega 9. This oil has a similar fatty acid composition to olive oil, but has a more neutral flavour.

An ideal supply of vitamin D is of great importance

In recent decades, knowledge about the role and importance of vitamin D for the human body has grown enormously. Researchers have discovered receptors for vitamin D in more than 30 different tissues and organs, including immune cells, muscles and bones. This means that the effects of vitamin D are far-reaching and that it promotes health in many ways. In particular, vitamin D is known to be good for teeth and bones. Vitamin D is necessary for the absorption of calcium and phosphorus and for maintaining normal blood levels of these two nutrients. These minerals are needed for the mineralisation of teeth and bones.

Vitamin D is also beneficial for the muscles, as a vitamin D receptor is also present in muscle tissue. Its activation increases protein production in the muscles, which is important for their function. Vitamin D also plays a role in cell division and the formation of new cells and tissue. Vitamin D also has an immunomodulating effect, i.e. it regulates processes in the immune system. Vitamin D receptors are found on T helper cells, a type of white blood cell that plays a decisive role in certain immunological processes. Vitamin D thus acts in a variety of ways in connection with our complex immune system. To summarise; an optimal vitamin D status is of the utmost importance for our health. It is no coincidence that in most countries it is recommended to take vitamin D supplements.

Oleic acid-rich sunflower oil: low in omega-6 and naturally rich in oleic acid (omega-9), like olive oil

When choosing a suitable oil base, we considered various factors such as flavour, stability, composition and shelf life. We opted for a sunflower oil whose fatty acid profile is naturally very similar to that of olive oil. Like olive oil, this so-called oleic acid-rich sunflower oil contains at least 75 % of the monounsaturated fatty acid oleic acid (omega 9). The content of linoleic acid (omega 6) is also low, which is comparable to the omega 6 content of olive oil. However, the flavour is rather neutral. An additional advantage of sunflower oil with a high oleic acid content is its stability.

Oleic acid-rich sunflower oil is often used in infant formula because of these properties. It is therefore ideal for liquid food supplements. The oleic acid-rich sunflower oil contained in Vitals Vitamin D3 1000 IU drops comes from European sunflower plants that are cultivated naturally (i.e. without genetic manipulation) and have a high omega 9 content in their seeds.

Ingredients

High oleic sunflower oil (Helianthus annuus, with at least 75 % oleic acid/omega-9), antioxidant (d-alpha-tocopherol), cholecalciferol.

Recommended dosage

Take 1-2 drops (25 - 50 μg vitamin D3) per day pure or mixed with water, juice or yoghurt with a (fat-containing) meal. The recommended daily intake must not be exceeded. This food supplement is not suitable for children up to and including 10 years of age.

Storage instructions

Store in a cool, dry place away from light (not in the refrigerator). Use within 6 months after opening.
