A vegetable fat is extracted from the shea nut, which is known as shea butter, then also galambutter, shea butter or bamboo butter.

Shea butter is native and pure without any chemical treatment. It moisturises and soothes the skin and helps with: Sunburn, stretch marks, nappy rash, ageing skin, itching, extremely dry, cracked and chapped skin.

Shea butter is one of the most valuable and effective natural substances for many skin care products. It is extracted from the nuts of a tree that grows wild in the African savannah. The evergreen shea nut tree bears fruit from whose kernels the "sacred gift of Africa", shea butter, is extracted by pressing. Due to its scientifically proven, exceptionally effective ingredients, shea butter is also becoming increasingly popular here and is attracting growing interest in the field of high-quality cosmetics.

What is shea butter used for?

Shea butter has been used by the savannah peoples for centuries for body and skin care and as a healing ointment for rheumatism, muscle and joint pain. The excellent consistency of shea butter makes your skin wonderfully smooth and soft. It is also used to prevent and reduce stretch marks and for baby and animal care.

Shelf life of shea butter

Pure shea butter has a shelf life of at least 3 years. However, it should be protected from constant exposure to light. As jojoba oil also has a very long shelf life, it can be mixed in (approx. 20 %) without reducing the shelf life. It also makes the shea butter even smoother. Our shea butter has different shades of colour. Because it is unrefined, it is never completely white.

Application

Apply to the skin or mix with other ingredients such as Evening primrose oil or borage oil to make creams.

Storage instructions

Store in a cool, dry place away from light (not in the refrigerator). Can be kept for 3 months after opening (in the refrigerator).
