Vitamin B2 25 mg, 100 capsules

For more strength and vigour, normal nerve function and maintaining vision

Vitamin B2, also known as riboflavin or lactoflavin, is an essential vitamin that we need to obtain from our diet. As a building block of important coenzymes, it is involved in many metabolic processes in our body. For example, in the production of energy from food, tissue growth or the maintenance of an intact nervous system.
A vitamin B2 deficiency can develop in pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, alcoholics, vegetarians and vegans in particular. It manifests itself in poorly healing wounds, cracked skin, inflammation of the gums and chronic fatigue. External support is also useful in the case of increased activity (sport, physical labour), prolonged stress, diets and infections.

Vitals provides vitamin B2 in the active form into which riboflavin is converted in the body: Sodium riboflavin 5'-phosphate. In this active form, it plays a role as a coenzyme in energy metabolism and supports energy production by acting as a biochemical electron carrier in many oxidation and reduction reactions associated with it. It also helps to protect fats, proteins and DNA from oxidation, as the production of glutathione and the antioxidant enzyme glutathione peroxidase depends on this vitamin. In addition, vitamin B2 can help to reduce fatigue, helps to maintain normal red blood cells and is good for the skin, eyes, mucous membranes and nervous system. Riboflavin belongs to a group of yellow pigments (flavins). When excreted, riboflavin provides a characteristic light yellow colour in the urine. Vitamin B2 25 mg from Vitals provides a high dose in a pure, biologically active form. The raw material is contained in a vegetable capsule made from manioc and is supplemented with an excipient made from rice. Preferably use or recommend vitamin B2 in combination with a vitamin B complex or multivitamin (because B vitamins work together to a high degree).

Effect of vitamin B2 (riboflavin)

Vitamin B2 is an important component of numerous coenzymes that control various metabolic processes in our body. It is an important enzyme in the respiratory chain. As a result, it supports carbohydrate and fat metabolism, but is also involved in the breakdown of proteins for energy production. This revs up our metabolism. Vitamin B2 also plays an important role in the fight against free radicals.
Above all, riboflavin is indispensable for the production of energy because it is an important enzyme in the respiratory chain. It therefore supports carbohydrate and fat metabolism, but is also involved in the breakdown of proteins for energy production.

Vitamin B2 helps to regulate homocysteine levels, promotes the conversion of vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) into its active form (pyridoxal-5-phosphate) and supports the effect of vitamin B3 (niacin).

Riboflavin is needed for the skin and blood formation. It has been shown to support vision.

Symptoms of vitamin B2 deficiency

The first symptoms of a vitamin B2 deficiency are changes to the skin such as cracked corners of the mouth, chapped lips and inflammation of the gums. In addition, there is a general feeling of weakness, listlessness, exhaustion and headaches.
Severe riboflavin deficiency can lead to visual disturbances. It can also lead to haematopoietic disorders (anaemia).

The metabolism of other vitamins (vitamin K, B3 and B6 as well as folic acid) is also impaired by a vitamin B2 deficiency.
