Tocopherols and tocotrienols

Vitamin E is a vital, fat-soluble nutrient that is made up of a group of four tocopherols (alpha, beta, gamma, delta) and four tocotrienols (alpha, beta, gamma, delta). The difference between tocotrienols and tocopherols is that the former have unsaturated side chains with three double bonds. The side chains of tocopherols are saturated and have no double bonds. All eight forms of vitamin E are found in food. As a rule, however, only alpha-tocopherol is used in food supplements. There is increasing evidence that the other forms of vitamin E (such as gamma-tocopherol and tocotrienols) are also crucial for maintaining good health and have synergistic effects. This is why this unique vitamin E complex was developed based on the latest scientific findings.

Natural versus synthetic vitamin E

Synthetic variants of vitamin E (such as dl-alpha-tocopherol or all-rac-alpha-tocopherol) are occasionally found in supplements, but are less effective than the natural forms. It is therefore important to choose a food supplement that contains only natural forms of vitamin E. These can be recognised by the prefix "d-" (as in d-alpha-tocopherol) or "RRR-" (as in RRR-alpha-tocopherol). Vitamin E-8 consists exclusively of natural forms of vitamin E.

Effect

The main function of vitamin E in the body is to protect cells and tissue from oxidative damage. Nowadays, people are exposed to numerous harmful external influences, such as excessive UV radiation from sunlight and environmental pollution. The cellular immune system therefore needs some help. Free radicals are scavenged by vitamin E, which helps to maintain healthy cells and tissues.

Vegan liquid capsule

A liquid capsule is a special form of the ordinary vegetable capsule. This type of capsule can also contain liquid ingredients, as the two halves are glued together with a cellulose gel in a specially developed process after being filled with the active ingredient. A conventional vegetarian capsule is made up of two halves that are pushed together loosely. It can therefore only contain powdered ingredients. Contact with liquids would cause the capsule to leak. The advantage of these liquid capsules is that they are suitable for vegetarians and vegans compared to gelatine softgel capsules.

It is recommended to use a vitamin E supplement together with a vitamin C supplement. Vitamin C ensures that the vitamin E already used by the body is converted back into its active form. This promotes the effect of vitamin E.
