The role of fish oil in a balanced diet
Fish oil, which is obtained from the tissue of marine fish, is particularly known for its valuable polyunsaturated fatty acids, especially omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential for numerous bodily functions. They not only support cell structure, but are also important for heart and brain health. Fish oil, a fatty oil from fish species such as anchovies, mackerel and herring, is rich in the omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). It is often taken in the form of soft capsules and can be obtained by eating fish in the diet. The recommended intake is one to two fish meals per week, with fish oil being in a pale yellow, insoluble form and often containing added vitamin E as an antioxidant. There are various ways of incorporating fish oil into the diet, either by eating oily fish or in the form of capsules that provide a standardised dosage. These capsules are very popular, especially with people who don't like fish or want to consume it regularly. They are flavourless, easy to store and transport, and ensure a constant supply of valuable fatty acids.... Read more

For more safety in summer All temperature-sensitive products from the manufacturers in our range of food supplements, feed etc. are designed to withstand a brief increase in ambient temperature. Microbiotics generally like it cool. In order to compensate for losses during shipping and storage from the outset, the capsules are filled with considerably more than is declared on the can. The aim is to ensure that the capsules contain as many viable bacteria as stated at the end of the best-before date. Fish oils, algae oil and krill oil are protected from oxidation by the addition of vitamin E. According to our manufacturers, a slight temperature increase of 1-2 days during transport does not affect them, but afterwards they should be stored in a cool place or, depending on the product, in the refrigerator. In order to protect the goods from too much heat, we only dispatch such products from Monday to Thursday in summer or at temperatures above 25 degrees. In the case of extremely high temperatures of 30 degrees and above, we recommend postponing the purchase until these are lower again. Of course, our customers can decide for themselves. However, we refuse to take back products on the grounds of "heat damage" if the weather conditions were known from the outset at the time of purchase. A safe alternative: refrigerated dispatch! When purchasing heat-sensitive products (microbiotics, enzymes, oils), we recommend booking refrigerated shipping, which can be easily done via the purchase function. We then add as many cold packs as you buy and insulate the goods particularly well. The more you buy, the safer and cooler the transport. The insulation and the -18 degree temperature of the cold packs are sufficient to cool the goods significantly for 12-24 hours. Even if the goods arrive at the customer's premises no longer cool, the heat load during transport is significantly lower than the maximum limit specified by the manufacturer. And our customers also get something else in return: these are ordinary cold packs, which are almost impossible to buy cheaper in the shops. This means that they can simply continue to be used in private households afterwards. The cold packs are suitable for a temperature range of -18° Celsius to +40° Celsius, e.g. as a heat pack for applying to tense muscles or similar. Safety note: The cold packs are sealed and are not intended for opening and replacing or consuming the liquid!

The health benefits of fish oil
Fish oil has lipid-lowering and anti-platelet aggregation effects and offers numerous health benefits, including protection against cardiovascular disease and support for normal growth and development.
However, fish oil is counterproductive in cases of hypersensitivity and severe liver, pancreatic and blood clotting disorders. Attention should be paid to interactions with anticoagulants and digoxin. Possible side effects include indigestion, a fish-like odour and taste and a prolonged bleeding time. High-quality fish oil capsules should be free from harmful substances such as PCBs and methylmercury, which can occur naturally in fish.
The absence of harmful substances and regular monitoring of fish oils is a matter of course for our manufacturers.
The problem of "fishy burping", for example, can be solved with high-tech capsules, such as those used by EnergyBalance. These are also vegan. Although this is not important for our customers, as fish is not vegan, it can be very important for Muslim or Jewish customers, for example, as these capsules do not contain gelatine, which could also come from pigs.
The quality of fish oil is a key aspect as it depends on the fish species, fishing region and processing methods. High quality fish oil is clear and has a neutral odour, while the sustainability of fishing is increasingly coming to the fore. It is crucial to purchase fish oil from responsible sources to counteract overfishing and environmental degradation.
There are often misconceptions about fish oil, for example that all fish oils are the same or that capsules can replace a balanced diet. In reality, they should be seen as a supplement within a comprehensive dietary strategy. Modern diets take into account individual preferences and provide scope for the integration of fish oil into different dietary approaches, making it an essential part of a varied and healthy diet.
