Vitamin D and K - best together!
Awareness of the significant effects of vitamin K2 and D3 on our health is constantly increasing. As a result, more and more people are taking vitamin K2 and D3 daily in the form of food supplements. Vitals offers a combination of vitamin K2 and D3. However, research is increasingly revealing how pronounced the synergistic effect is and to what extent the metabolic functions complement each other. A potent combination!
Vitals Vitamin K2 + D3 capsules are vegan and softgel, containing a generous amount of both fat-soluble vitamins based on MCT oil. To protect the vitamins, which are very sensitive to light, the softgel capsule has been made opaque with iron oxide. Softgel capsules are very popular and extremely convenient to use as they are easy to swallow. Fortunately, softgel capsules are no longer based solely on gelatine. Plant-based alternatives are now available, such as tapioca starch from manioc.
The vitamin D3 contained in this Vitamin D3V® branded product is also of plant origin (. It is made from algae and not from sheep's wool fat, like many of the vitamin D3 products still available. This product is also suitable for vegans. Vitamin K2 is offered by the Norwegian K2 expert Balchem as K2VITAL™. As with the previous products, we have once again selected only high-quality branded ingredients. You already know that from Vitals!
Vitamins K and D work together to get the calcium to where it is needed. In the body, vitamin D ensures the production of a special protein that is dependent on the effect of vitamin K. The so-called Gla protein is activated by vitamin K in order to function properly. Osteocalcin(1) and matrix Gla protein (MGP)(2) are important examples of this. Binding calcium is a common feature of this vitamin K-dependent Gla protein. Vitamin K and vitamin D are responsible for ensuring that the calcium from our food is transported to the right places in the body.
The superior forms are vitamin K2 and D3.
The main task of vitamin K1 is to activate the protein necessary for blood clotting. This occurs primarily through its uptake in the liver. Vitamin K2 is also needed outside the liver to activate other forms of protein that are dependent on vitamin K (such as osteocalcin and MGP). There are various forms of vitamin K2 (also known as "menaquinone"), including the best known MK-4, MK-7, MK-8 and MK-9. Menaquinone-7 (MK-7) is currently recognised as the most effective form of vitamin K2. MK-7 is excellently absorbed and remains in the body for a long time so that it can take effect.
The most common forms of vitamin D (calciferol) are vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) and vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol). Cholecalciferol is produced in the human skin by ultraviolet light, such as sunlight (hence the term "sun vitamin"). In the liver, these forms of vitamin D are converted into calcidiol (25-hydroxyvitamin D). In the kidneys and other cells and tissues, calcidiol is converted into the biologically active hormone calcitriol (1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D) as required. As far as supplementation is concerned, however, it is important to note that vitamin D3 appears to be more effective than vitamin D2 in increasing calcidiol and ultimately calcitriol in the blood in most cases.
K2VITAL™ from the Norwegian company Balchem, a specialist in K2 Vitamin K2 is considered to be very unstable in food supplements. The vitamin K2 content of a product can decrease rapidly in combination with minerals or certain excipients. This is of course very undesirable, as ideally you want to be able to keep a food supplement for the entire duration of its shelf life. The Norwegian manufacturer Balchem has developed basic substances for vitamin K2 that have proven to be very pure and stable. Scientists studying the effects of vitamin K in the human body choose Balchem's K2 vitamin as their first option for good reason. After extensive stability tests with various K2 base substances in different compositions, Vitals has chosen Balchem as its supplier of vitamin K2. The results were simply convincing.

E-Mail: kundendienst@vitals.eu.
