Restore your Omega-3 index with our affordable bundles of oils and Omega-3 index tests! Don't like oils — or are you one of those people who can't swallow a capsule? No problem, our bundles have something for everyone! This approach makes more sense than ordering something at random on a hunch. Or remaining under the belief that a few fish fingers now and then will provide enough omega-3 fatty acids. Which, of course, would not be the case. So it's best to first establish the current situation and then proceed sensibly... Read more

DHA and EPA - essential for health!

The legislator in the EU is extremely critical when it comes to health claims about nutrients. Positive health claims for vitamins, minerals etc. are usually not permitted, even when there is evidence from studies that they are correct. That also means that when EFSA does allow a health claim, it is proven beyond doubt!

The following claims for omega‑3 fatty acids have been officially confirmed:

Omega‑3 fatty acid
Officially permitted claim in the EU
Conditions for stating this claim

DHA (docosahexaenoic acid)...

  • contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function.
  • contributes to the maintenance of normal vision.
Only permitted for foods/food supplements that contain at least 40 mg DHA per 100 g or per 100 kcal and when at least 250 mg DHA are consumed daily.
DHA (docosahexaenoic acid)...
  • contributes to the maintenance of normal blood triglyceride levels.
At a daily intake of at least 2 g DHA. Total intake must not exceed 5 g DHA+EPA.

DHA (docosahexaenoic acid)...

Maternal intake of DHA contributes to the normal development
  • of the eyes of the foetus and of the breastfed infant.
  • of the brain of the foetus and of the breastfed infant.
At a daily intake of at least 250 mg DHA+EPA plus an additional 200 mg DHA.

DHA and EPA (omega‑3 fatty acids)...

  • contribute to the maintenance of normal blood pressure.
At a daily intake of at least 3 g DHA+EPA. Total intake must not exceed 5 g DHA+EPA.

DHA and EPA (omega‑3 fatty acids)...

  • contribute to normal heart function.

Test first – then take action!

To assess whether and how much omega‑3 fatty acids you need, it makes sense first to determine whether a deficiency exists.
A simple test you can even perform yourself without consulting a doctor or alternative practitioner is the determination of the Omega‑3 Index.
This index, simply put, indicates how high the proportion of omega‑3 fats in the blood is compared with all other fatty acids.
The Omega‑3 Index is optimal when it is 8–11 %. An Omega‑3 Index of 6–8 % is considered moderate, 4–6 % low, and a value of < 4 % is very low.

You can obtain such a test from us. That way you can first test whether you have a problem before ordering omega‑3 oils or capsules on suspicion and without any guideline as to how much you actually need.

Subscription or not?

Of course it would be nicer for many customers if there were a way to save money when they already know they need many of these valuable and therefore relatively expensive products.
In recent years many providers have discovered this for themselves. Subscription models are increasingly appearing on the market, where tests and oils can be combined with the promise of saving money. Typical examples would be, for instance, Eqology or Nordic Oil.
Subscriptions even make pedagogical sense: many people do not stick to good resolutions for very long. While initially enthusiastic, enthusiasm often wanes after 2–3 months and one sometimes forgets to take the capsules or oils or abandons the programme altogether. However, you should definitely continue for at least 3–4 months, preferably longer, because you will not achieve a health effect before that. The omega‑3 oils first have to be replenished in the body or incorporated into the cells.

However, we are not in favour of subscriptions and hope that customers can maintain their motivation without a subscription. There are several reasons for this:
  • The products have a very long best‑before date. Our oils last at least 12 months; capsules last 2–3 years. It makes no sense to have a bottle sent every four weeks incurring postage and packaging costs each time when you could receive them all at once.
  • A subscription always represents a long‑term commitment. If you forget a payment, problems arise. If you want to cancel it, this usually does not work. And if you forget to cancel after 6 months, you are stuck with it long‑term, even if you do not want that.
  • Subscriptions are also costly and time‑consuming for us as shop owners because of the technical and bureaucratic effort required to offer them in the shop. Of course all providers state that their subscriptions are "totally cheap". The fact is, however, that they still have to factor these costs into the price of the products.

We therefore do not offer subscription models, but give our customers the option of buying the necessary supply for their six‑month programme as a cost‑effective bundle. We are happy to deduct the savings in effort and bureaucracy from the price; our Omega‑3 programmes are genuinely inexpensive and do not just claim to be!
