Sango coral, belonging to the stony coral genus, originates in Okinawa, Japan. This is a Japanese prefecture comprising over 150 islands in the East China Sea. The island of the same name is the largest in the group and features wide beaches and coral reefs. All around the island, there are vast sandbanks of eroded Sango coral on the seabed.

Magnesium from Sango coral

Sango coral contains organic calcium and magnesium in a ratio of 2:1. This ensures optimal absorption by the body. Due to this special composition, Sango coral is highly effective in the remineralisation of bones, teeth, hair and fingernails.

As well as magnesium, the coral contains over 70 other minerals and trace elements, such as magnesium, copper, silicon, boron, germanium and iron.

Echt Vital sources its Sango coral from the market leader in Okinawa. The corals are protected in Japan by strict government guidelines . The corals live and grow at depths of up to 30 metres, where they receive sufficient sunlight and nutrients. The water depth of 30 metres extends across a strip approximately 500 metres wide around the island; beyond that, the seabed drops steeply and it is only here that the government permits the collection of fossilised coral.

The powder for our Sango coral is collected at depths of more than 60 metres and more than 1,000 metres from the shore; at these depths, there are no longer any living corals, but only fossilised corals. The Sango coral powder is carefully tested and analysed so that we can guarantee you consistent quality at all times.
