The potassium alum crystal (Potassium Alum) is a mineral that has long been used, especially in Asia, as a mild deodorant and for killing germs. It is a compound of potassium and aluminium, with the aluminium firmly bound and unable to penetrate the skin.

Sweating is a natural bodily process to regulate body temperature. Sweat itself has almost no odour; it is only bacteria on moist areas of the skin that produce the substances responsible for unpleasant odour.

Unlike antiperspirants, which affect the sweat glands and reduce sweating, the potassium alum crystal works like this: it forms a thin mineral film on the skin that prevents the spread of bacteria. This reduces body odour without inhibiting natural sweating.

Why more and more people prefer mineral crystal deodorants

Deodorants made from minerals and crystals are increasingly in demand. Many people report skin problems from deodorants containing synthetic ingredients or strong fragrances. Aluminium — present or not?

This is not pure aluminium or soluble aluminium compounds that the body could absorb. The aluminium is firmly locked into a crystal structure, cannot be utilised by the body and cannot penetrate the skin.
Unlike aluminium salts in antiperspirants (such as aluminium chlorohydrate), potassium alum does not release free aluminium.
Therefore products containing potassium alum can correctly be described as 'aluminium-free', because they do not contain potentially harmful or toxic forms of aluminium.

24-hour protection

With daily use the EnergyBalance® crystal deodorant stick lasts for more than 12 months and effectively protects against body odour for up to 24 hours. It is odourless, does not alter perfumes, leaves no stains and provides a pleasantly fresh feeling on the skin.

Application

Moisten the tip of the crystal slightly and gently apply to cleansed skin. After use rinse under running water and allow to dry before putting it away.
