Iodine and selenium yeast with barley grass for the thyroid
The body’s iodine requirements are primarily determined by thyroid hormone production. This varies depending on age and metabolic status. Adults need around 200 micrograms per day, whilst pregnant and breastfeeding women require more.
The body needs iodine for the thyroid gland. This organ is situated at the front of the neck, just below the larynx. Without it, the metabolism would function only to a limited extent. Through the thyroid hormones triiodothyronine and thyroxine, iodine regulates brain development, heart rate, metabolism and blood pressure.
If the body is not regularly supplied with iodine, metabolic problems and other illnesses can arise. Constant tiredness, a lack of energy or dry skin are early signs of iodine deficiency. This can lead to the development of a so-called goitre. Hormone production is disrupted, and insufficient thyroxine is produced.
