Iodine and selenium yeast with barley grass for the thyroid
The body's requirement for iodine is primarily defined by the production of thyroid hormones. This varies depending on age and metabolic status. Adults need about 200 micrograms per day; pregnant and breastfeeding women require more.
The body needs iodine for the thyroid. The organ is located in the front of the neck just below the larynx. Without it, metabolism slows down. Through the thyroid hormones triiodothyronine and thyroxine, iodine regulates brain development, heart rhythm, metabolism and blood pressure.
If the body is not supplied with iodine repeatedly, metabolic problems and other illnesses can arise. Persistent fatigue, lack of vigour or dry skin are initial signs of an iodine deficiency. This can lead to a so‑called goitre. Hormone production no longer functions properly and insufficient thyroxine is produced.
