Traces of this valuable composition of vitamins, trace elements and phytochemicals can be traced back to the Chinese Qing Dynasty. The key ingredient in this formula is many-flowered knotweed (Polygonum multiflorum), whose constituents, in TCM, are said to support the Qi – the life energy – and the Yi – the substance – in combination with the other ingredients. In the past, it seemed to be particularly popular amongst older people and was regarded as a remedy for ailments that can arise with advancing age.
