Histamine intolerance test

Only for Germany and Austria

  • We would like to point out that these tests and the shipping processes are optimized for Germany and Austria and are prepaid.
  • Samples must be delivered to the German laboratory within 4 days. This cannot be guaranteed for samples shipped from other countries!
  • Orders from countries other than Germany and Austria are therefore at your own risk. In this case, we only accept the payment method "Prepayment (directly to us)", as customers cannot then cancel the purchase, e.g., because the sample arrived at the laboratory unusable through their own fault. Purchases made with any other payment methods that customers could unlawfully reverse will be immediately canceled and refunded.
  • You can find more information about this from the manufacturer!

The amino acid histidine belongs to the tissue hormones

With suboptimal histamine breakdown, particularly when larger amounts of histamine accumulate and the activity of histamine-degrading enzymes such as diamine oxidase (DAO) and histamine-N-methyltransferase (HNMT) in the liver is insufficient, an excessive amount of histamine can develop in the body. Histamine intolerance (HIT) therefore represents a sign of the imbalance between the histamine produced and its degradation. Not only foods with a high histamine content influence the amount of histamine in the body: an excessive number of histamine-producing bacteria in the gut, allergies or medications that inhibit histamine degradation can also have an effect.

The symptoms that typically occur in histaminosis can be varied. Excessive histamine levels can lead to circulatory problems, headaches, shortness of breath, allergy-like symptoms and skin rashes. Gastrointestinal complaints such as stomach pain, heartburn, cramps, bloating and diarrhoea are also possible. This urine test determines histamine and its metabolites in the urine.

In the gut, the main breakdown of histamine is carried out by the enzyme diamine oxidase (DAO), resulting in imidazole acetaldehyde and imidazoleacetic acid. As a second intracellular degradation pathway, histamine is converted by N-methyltransferase into the products N-methylhistamine, N-methylimidazole acetaldehyde and N-methylimidazoleacetic acid. The relationships between N-methylhistamine and histamine, as well as imidazoleacetic acid and histamine, provide insights into DAO function and HNMT activity.

The following parameters are examined:

  • Histamine
  • Imidazoleacetic acid
  • Ratio imidazoleacetic acid/histamine
  • N-methylhistamine
  • N-methylimidazoleacetic acid
  • Ratio N-methylhistamine/histamine Diagnosis

The results form the basis for a tailored therapy, which should only be carried out after consultation with a doctor or therapist.

The test set includes:

  • 1 sampling instruction
  • 1 urine cup
  • 1 yellow urine tube (urine Monovette)
  • 1 yellow tip
  • 1 shipping container for urine Monovette
  • 1 shipping bag

How does the ordering process work?

After placing your order, the requested test package will be sent to you with detailed instructions. You place your sample in a specimen container, send it in a prepared envelope to Medivere's partner laboratory GANZIMMUN Diagnostics GmbH and receive a report with the evaluation of your profile after 5–7 days.

Achieve better results with sensible diagnostics!

Around 50% of our customers are referred to us by their therapist and know exactly what they need. Many more have extensive therapeutic knowledge, but many also buy on a hunch ("just in case") without really knowing the details. For these customers it would make a lot of sense to first determine their exact needs or any deficiencies. Customers who buy a test from us are offered a short health consultation with a nutritionist, during which it is clarified which product would be best for them.
In addition, they receive a 10% voucher for their first purchase after they have received their test result. We are also happy to put them in touch with suitably qualified therapists with whom we are in contact. As a retailer we are only allowed to provide limited advice, even though we would be qualified to do so. This is regulated by law because of the conflict of interest between sales and therapy; for example, doctors are not allowed to sell medicines or vitamins.
