Laboratory chemical urine analysis of various substances to determine disturbances in different metabolic pathways

Determination of vanillylmandelic acid, homovanillic acid, 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid, tryptophan, xanthurenic acid, L-kynurenine, kynurenic acid, quinolinic acid as well as the calculated L-kynurenine/tryptophan ratio and the kynurenic acid/L-kynurenine ratio.

Tryptophan is an essential amino acid that, under physiological conditions, is metabolised to the neurohormones serotonin and melatonin. In the gastrointestinal tract, serotonin influences motility, secretion and pain perception. Low melatonin levels are associated with sleep disorders. Tryptophan degradation normally occurs via the hepatic tryptophan 2,3-dioxygenase (TDO) through the oxidative kynurenine metabolic pathway. If disturbances occur in this metabolic process (most often due to a micronutrient deficiency), this can become apparent in various ways.

The metabolites examined in this profile provide insights into neurotransmitters, which in turn are involved in numerous pathological and physiological processes in the body. They can be neuroprotective, neurotoxic, pro-inflammatory, anti-inflammatory, oxidising, antioxidative and/or immunomodulatory.

By measuring the metabolites, or ratios between them, conclusions can be drawn about possible causes. These include, for example, vitamin B6 / vitamin B3 deficiency, micronutrient deficiency, reduced amino acid intake, medication use or impaired fructose uptake in the gut. Consequences can include depressive moods, digestive disorders, sleep disturbances, anxiety and fatigue.

The urine analysis as part of the Organix® Neuro Test therefore makes it possible to detect a possible connection between somatic causes and psychological effects.

How does the ordering process work?

After placing your order, the requested test package will be sent to you with detailed instructions. You put your sample into a sample container, send it in a pre-prepared envelope to Medivere's partner laboratory GANZIMMUN Diagnostics GmbH and after 5-7 days you will receive a report with the evaluation of your profile.
