PCR detection of parasites in stool

The new multiplex real-time PCR offers a significantly higher sensitivity compared with previous immunological or microscopic parasite detection methods. The innovative screening method enables a treatment-critical differentiation between the different pathogens!

Parasites can cause severe diarrhoea and intense abdominal pain, especially in people with an immune system weakened by stress or illness. In some cases, the disease can also spread to other organs. If left untreated, a parasitic infestation can therefore lead to severe courses of disease.

An infection with parasites often occurs in tropical or subtropical regions. Several years can pass before the first symptoms appear, during which transmission to other people is possible.

With our new PCR test (PCR = polymerase chain reaction) we can now offer you even more reliable and accurate tests for parasites.

In this parasite PCR stool test, the following parameters are examined:

*Some parasites are notifiable under Section 7 of the IfSG for laboratories and physicians. Giardia lamblia and Cryptosporidium spp. fall under this reporting requirement. Entamoeba histolytica is notifiable in some federal states such as Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony and Thuringia. Please note that in the event of a positive result for a notifiable parasitic infection, the GANZIMMUN laboratory is legally obliged to transmit your contact details to the relevant public health authority.

How does the ordering process work?

After your order, the requested test package will be sent to you with detailed instructions. You place your sample in a sample container, send it in a prepared envelope to Medivere's partner laboratory GANZIMMUN Diagnostics GmbH and will receive a report with the assessment of your profile after 5–7 days.
