To assess vitamin status in adolescents

A one-sided diet dominated by convenience foods can already lead to marked obesity in childhood. Micronutrient intake also often suffers from poor diet. According to the EsKiMo study (which determined the nutritional and health status of children and adolescents), children aged between 6 and 17 years show inadequate intake of calcium, vitamin D, vitamin E and folic acid. Magnesium and zinc are also often found to be deficient according to our own investigations.
