Pyridoxine, also known as Vitamin B6, is present in the form pyridoxal-5-phosphate (P5P), just as the body requires. P5P is the best available Vitamin B6.
What does the body need Vitamin B6 for?
As a cofactor, pyridoxine is involved in more than 100 metabolic reactions. Pyridoxine plays a central role in growth and energy metabolism, as it is involved in the synthesis, conversion and breakdown of fats, carbohydrates and, in particular, proteins.
The formation of the red blood pigment haemoglobin depends on a good supply of Vitamin B6.
The body needs Vitamin B6 for the production of the myelin sheath, an important protective layer for nerve fibres. This is necessary for the proper conduction of nerve impulses.
