Pyridoxine, also known as vitamin B6, is present in the form of pyridoxal-5-phosphate (P5P), just as the body needs it. P5P is the best form of vitamin B6 available.
What does the body need vitamin B6 for?
As a co-factor, pyridoxine is involved in more than 100 metabolic reactions. Pyridoxine plays a central role in growth and energy metabolism, as it is involved in the synthesis, conversion and breakdown of fats, carbohydrates and, in particular, proteins.
The formation of the red blood pigment haemoglobin depends on an adequate supply of vitamin B6.
