FOOD STATE Selen is enriched in a food matrix enzymatically derived from nutritional yeast. This results in particularly high bioavailability in the body and makes this product very well tolerated.
Selenium — a versatile nutrient – Selenium occurs as a trace element in numerous enzymes and therefore has many functions in our body. For example, it is a component of antioxidant enzymes, contributes to the normal functioning of the immune system and to normal hair and nails. It is also well known for its role in the thyroid. There it acts as a co‑factor in the conversion of the thyroid hormone T4 into the active T3 form. Selenium is essential for life but cannot be produced by the body. Therefore it must be supplied through the diet, and particular attention should be paid to ensuring an adequate intake.
