GABA Plus – enriched with vitamin B6
GABA is short for gamma-aminobutyric acid. It is classified as a non-proteinogenic amino acid, as it is not involved in the formation of proteins but acts independently. GABA is one of the most abundant neurotransmitters in the brain, accounting for around two-thirds of the total. There, GABA acts as an inhibitor; this means it has a calming effect, in contrast to excitatory neurotransmitters, which promote arousal.
GABA is therefore not only popular as part of a relaxing evening routine; as an inhibitory neurotransmitter, it also offers excellent support in the fast-paced demands of everyday life.
As GABA cannot cross the blood-brain barrier, it can only enter the brain via the pituitary gland. This occurs in small quantities. WOSCHA GABA Plus is therefore fortified with vitamin B6, which has been shown to contribute to normal psychological function and normal nervous system function. The active form of vitamin B6 – pyridoxine-5-phosphate – is used. This is up to 10 times more effective than the inactive form.
