Pure L-glutamine powder for ideal dosing
Accounting for 20 per cent of the total, L-glutamine is the most common
amino acid in our bodies. It is found mainly in
muscle cells, where it is also produced.
As a building block for protein synthesis, L-glutamine plays a
central role in the
metabolism of all plants, animals, fungi and bacteria. It is found in large quantities in wheat protein
as well as in dairy products, soya (soya protein) and maize (maize protein)
.
L-glutamine is important as a precursor to glutathione, glutamic acid
and GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid).
In powder form, it is particularly suitable for people who prefer to dose glutamine individually or who prefer to take it in drinks, protein shakes, muesli and the like.
Functions of L-glutamine
L-glutamine is an important building block for the formation of
glutathione, a sulphur-containing amino acid that acts as
a free radical scavenger in our bodies.
Some of the L-glutamine is converted into glutamic acid.
Glutamic acid can bind ammonia, a by-product of our
normal metabolism. Furthermore, L-glutamine is the precursor to
GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid). GABA is an important
neurotransmitter and stimulates the release of somatotropin.
