Reduced L-glutathione is part of the redox system
The sulphur-containing amino acid L-glutathione is found in almost all the body’s cells. In our diet, it is found primarily in meat (particularly offal), but it can also be synthesised in the liver from the amino acids L-glutamine (as glutamic acid), L-cysteine and glycine.
As we age (from around the age of 40), both the body’s own production of L-glutathione and its ability to absorb it decline. Intense physical exertion, stress, environmental toxins, illness, as well as smoking, alcohol and a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle also lead to an increased requirement. In these cases, an additional external supply of L-glutathione may be recommended.
L-glutathione is a small, sulphur-containing protein composed of the three amino acids glutamic acid, cysteine and glycine. It is therefore also referred to as a tripeptide. As it is produced by the body itself and does not need to be obtained from food, it is not classified as an essential nutrient.
What makes L-glutathione unique is that it exists in both oxidised and reduced forms. The two forms can be easily converted into one another through an exchange of electrons. The oxidised form is produced by the release of an electron, whilst the reduced form is produced by the uptake of an electron.
Accounting for around 90 per cent, the reduced, biologically more active form of L-glutathione is the most common. The remaining 10 per cent consists of the oxidised form. This serves as a reserve in case the body needs more reactive L-glutathione.

High-quality formulations from the Netherlands
Podo medi's products are significantly influenced by the naturopathic experience of its co-founder Wolfgang P. Schallmey. However, he has been retired since 2020, which is why the "Woscha" brand has become the "natura felix" brand. The tried-and-tested recipes will remain largely the same. In addition to the logo, the packaging of many products will change significantly. The company is increasingly switching from plastic to more environmentally friendly cardboard cans.
