Reduced L-glutathione is part of the redox system
The sulphur-containing amino acid L-glutathione is found in almost all body cells. It occurs in our diet mainly in meat (particularly offal), but can also be synthesised in the liver from the amino acids L-glutamine (as glutamic acid), L-cysteine and glycine.
With increasing age (from about 40 years), both the body's own production of L-glutathione and the ability to absorb it decrease. Intense physical exertion, stress, environmental toxins, illnesses as well as smoking, alcohol and a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle also lead to a higher requirement. In these cases an additional supply of L-glutathione from outside may be advisable.
L-glutathione is a sulphur-containing, small protein made up of the three amino acids glutamic acid, cysteine and glycine. It is therefore also referred to as a tripeptide. Since it is produced by our body itself and does not have to be supplied through the diet, it is not one of the essential nutrients.
The special feature of L-glutathione is that it exists in oxidised and reduced forms. The two forms can be easily converted into each other by an electron exchange. The oxidised form is formed by the loss of an electron and the reduced form by the gain of an electron.
With a proportion of about 90% the reduced, biologically more active form of L-glutathione is most common. The remaining 10% consists of the oxidised form. It serves as a reserve in case the body requires more reactive L-glutathione.

High-quality formulations from the Netherlands
The products of podo medi are largely influenced by the naturopathic experience of its co-founder Wolfgang P. Schallmey. However, he has been retired since 2020, which is why the brand "Woscha" is becoming "natura felix". The tried-and-tested formulations will largely remain unchanged. What is changing significantly, besides the logo, is the packaging of many products. Thus there is an increasing switch from plastic to more environmentally friendly cardboard containers.
