Ocu Active, 60 capsules

natura felix Ocu Aktiv can support the eyes and normal vision

Our eyes are our most important sense organ. For this reason, eye problems represent a particular psychological burden for us. Complaints can already occur in youth due to computer work, long car journeys, night driving, dry air and intense sunlight.
With age, vision declines and the risk of age-related eye diseases increases. Lifestyle, alongside familial predisposition, is of great importance. A balanced diet rich in fruit and vegetables, together with avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, strengthens the eyes' resistance to external influences and contributes to eye health. Targeted support of the eyes with vitamins and nutrients can also be achieved through a dietary supplement.

Ocu Aktiv is particularly suitable for this, because it

  • helps to preserve vision (Vit. A, B2)
  • supports vision at night and in low light (Vit. A)

Ocu Aktiv: 5 effective eye nutrients

Numerous eye preparations on the market contain substances whose beneficial effects on the eyes and vision are merely suspected – scientific proof is lacking. Ocu Aktiv contains only nutrients whose effectiveness has been demonstrated by many studies. These include the traditional eye vitamins A and B2, the plant antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin from calendula (marigold) and anthocyanins from bilberry extract.
Care was also taken to ensure that all ingredients are present in sufficient quantities. The dosage in products from other suppliers is often not sufficient to actually promote vision. This is due to the high purchase prices of certain ingredients. Nevertheless, the price-performance ratio of Ocu Aktiv for one capsule a day is very good.

The bioavailability of the eye vitamins and vital nutrients is naturally increased by black pepper extract. This natural product is frequently used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine.
Ocu Aktiv contains no additives that unnecessarily burden the body. It is suitable for vegetarians and vegans, as the capsule shells are made from cellulose instead of bovine gelatin.

Important vitamins for the eyes

Vitamins A (retinol) and B2 (riboflavin) contribute to the maintenance of normal vision. Rhodopsin, a component of the visual purple in the retina, requires vitamin A for twilight and night vision. A deficiency makes driving at night and recognising contours more difficult. Sensitivity to glare also increases. Vitamin B2 helps to protect the cornea and the lens of the eye from harmful free radicals generated by UV radiation.

Lutein and zeaxanthin, derived from calendula

Lutein and zeaxanthin, two carotenoids, belong to the plant antioxidants. They appear to play a significant role in protecting the yellow spot (Matula lutea) from free radicals, the area of the eye where vision is sharpest. In this small, only 2 mm area in the centre of the retina, their concentration is extraordinarily high (approximately 10,000 times higher than in the blood).

Studies have shown that lutein and zeaxanthin have a protective effect. They absorb blue light, which is particularly harmful to the eyes. Sensory cells are damaged when deficient, which inevitably leads to a decline in vision. So far, no side effects from taking lutein and zeaxanthin have been observed in studies.

Bilberry extract for the eyes

Blueberries, also called heidelbeeren, contain numerous natural components that can contribute to strengthening vision. Even our ancestors, such as Hildegard of Bingen, were aware of this fact.

The anthocyanins are the most important. These plant pigments, like vitamin A, contribute to the formation of the protein rhodopsin, which is responsible for vision at dusk and at night. In addition, anthocyanins are capable of protecting the retina from free radicals and promoting microcirculation in the capillaries of the choroid. This aligns with their positive influence on declining vision.

For problems caused by eye strain, bilberry extract has proven to be very effective. These include dry, irritated and reddened eyes, visual disturbances, headaches and dizziness. There are several causes, including inadequate supply of eye nutrients due to a one-sided diet, intense sunlight, dry air and especially computer work (staring at the screen for hours).

High-quality formulations from the Netherlands

The products of podo medi are largely influenced by the naturopathic experience of its co-founder Wolfgang P. Schallmey. However, he has been retired since 2020, which is why the brand "Woscha" is becoming "natura felix". The tried-and-tested formulations will largely remain unchanged. What is changing significantly, besides the logo, is the packaging of many products. Thus there is an increasing switch from plastic to more environmentally friendly cardboard containers.
