Ocu Active, 60 capsules

natura felix Ocu Aktiv can support eye health and normal vision

Our eyes are our most important sensory organ. For this reason, eye problems place a particular psychological strain on us. Even in youth, problems can arise from working at a computer, long car journeys, night-time driving, dry air and intense sunlight.
As we age, our eyesight declines and the risk of age-related eye diseases increases. In this context, lifestyle plays a major role alongside genetic predisposition. A balanced diet rich in fruit and vegetables, combined with avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, strengthens the eyes’ resilience against external influences and contributes to eye health. Dietary supplements can also provide targeted support for the eyes through vitamins and nutrients.

Ocu Aktiv is particularly well-suited for this purpose, as it

  • helps to maintain eyesight (Vitamins A, B2)
  • and improves night-time and twilight vision (Vit. A)

Ocu Aktiv: 5 effective eye nutrients

Many eye supplements on the market contain substances whose beneficial effects on the eyes and eyesight are merely assumed – yet there is no scientific evidence to support this. Ocu Aktiv contains only nutrients whose effectiveness has been proven by numerous studies. These include the traditional eye vitamins A and B2, the plant-based antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin from marigolds, and anthocyanins from blueberry extract.
Care has also been taken to ensure that all ingredients are present in sufficient quantities. The dosage offered by other suppliers is often insufficient to actually improve eyesight. This is due to the high purchase prices of certain ingredients. Nevertheless, the value for money of Ocu Aktiv for one capsule a day is very good.

The bioavailability of the eye vitamins and vital nutrients is naturally enhanced by black pepper extract. This natural product is very commonly used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine.
Ocu Aktiv contains no additives that place an unnecessary burden on the body. It is suitable for vegetarians and vegans, as the capsule shells are made from cellulose rather than bovine gelatine .

Important vitamins for the eyes

Vitamins A (retinol) and B2 (riboflavin) help to maintain normal vision. Rhodopsin, a component of the visual purple in the retina, requires vitamin A for twilight and night vision. A deficiency makes it difficult to drive at night and to recognise contours. It also increases sensitivity to glare. Vitamin B2 helps to protect the cornea and the lens of the eye from harmful free radicals caused by UV radiation.

Lutein and zeaxanthin, which are extracted from marigolds

Lutein and zeaxanthin, two carotenoids, are among the plant-based antioxidants. They appear to play a significant role in protecting the macula (macula lutea) from free radicals – the part of the eye where vision is sharpest. In this small area, measuring just 2 mm, at the centre of the retina, their concentration is exceptionally high (approximately 10,000 times higher than in the blood).

Studies have shown that lutein and zeaxanthin have a protective effect. They absorb blue light, which is particularly harmful to the eyes. A deficiency damages sensory cells, which inevitably leads to a decline in eyesight. To date, no side effects have been identified in studies relating to the intake of lutein and zeaxanthin.

Blueberry extract for the eyes

Blueberries contain numerous natural compounds that can help to strengthen eyesight. Even our ancestors, such as Hildegard von Bingen, were aware of this fact.

Anthocyanins are the most important of these. Like vitamin A, these plant-based pigments contribute to the formation of the protein rhodopsin, which is responsible for vision at dusk and at night. Furthermore, anthocyanins are able to protect the retina from free radicals and promote microcirculation in the capillaries of the choroid. This explains their beneficial effect on declining eyesight .

For problems caused by eye strain, blueberry extract has proved to be very effective. These include dry, irritated and reddened eyes, visual disturbances, headaches and dizziness. There are several causes, including an insufficient supply of eye-nourishing nutrients due to an unbalanced diet, intense sunlight, dry air and, above all, computer work (staring at a screen for hours on end).

High-quality formulations from the Netherlands

Podo medi's products are significantly influenced by the naturopathic experience of its co-founder Wolfgang P. Schallmey. However, he has been retired since 2020, which is why the "Woscha" brand has become the "natura felix" brand. The tried-and-tested recipes will remain largely the same. In addition to the logo, the packaging of many products will change significantly. The company is increasingly switching from plastic to more environmentally friendly cardboard cans.
