Omega-3 Fatty Acids – the "good fats"

Omega-3 fatty acids are mainly found in marine fish and are a key reason why fish is considered so healthy. As essential fatty acids, omega-3 must be obtained through the diet. Even for the foetus and into advanced age, adequate omega-3 supply is of great importance for our well-being and development (see nutritional properties). Since we obtain most omega-3 from animal products, those following an animal-free diet should pay particular attention to their omega-3 intake.

Vegan Omega-3 – animal-free from the alga Schizochytrium

Vegan omega-3 is produced from the alga Schizochytrium. In an environmentally friendly process, the oil is extracted from the alga in an artificial seawater tank. The artificial seawater also allows guaranteed purity and quality of the product, as there are no contaminants in the water.
Vegan omega is highly concentrated with 175 mg EPA and 310 mg DHA per capsule.
Rosemary and mixed tocopherols also help to prevent the omega-3 from oxidising, thus extending its shelf life.

Nutritional properties

• DHA contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function and to the maintenance of normal vision (these beneficial effects are achieved with a daily intake of 250 mg DHA).
• EPA and DHA contribute to the maintenance of normal heart function (these beneficial effects are achieved with a daily intake of 250 mg DHA + EPA).
• Replacing saturated fatty acids with monounsaturated and/or polyunsaturated fatty acids in the diet contributes to the maintenance of a normal blood cholesterol level.
