What are salvestroles?

Salvestroles belong to the secondary plant metabolites, known as phytoalexins. Secondary plant metabolites are substances produced by plants to protect against bacteria, insects, moulds, UV light and viruses.

Discovery of salvestroles and their importance

Professor Burke from the UK described the discovery of salvestroles as "the most important breakthrough in nutrition since the discovery of vitamins". Dr John Briffa also chose salvestroles as the best idea in health.
Nowadays fruit and vegetables are mostly treated with pesticides, which means the plant loses the incentive to produce salvestroles. One reason for this is that our diet contains only small amounts of salvestroles.
Today, however, salvestroles are only found in significant amounts in organically grown fruit and vegetables. It is advisable to consume Salvestrol® daily.

The Salvestrol point system:

The researchers at Nature’s Defence developed a points system to calculate the amounts of salvestroles in our diet and to ensure an adequate supply. The Salvestrol points system is based on the daily minimum amount of salvestrol that was present during the Victorian era (1837 to 1901).
In the 19th-century diet, 12 mg of salvestroles corresponded to 100 points. The minimum amount that should be consumed daily for health corresponds to 100 salvestrol points. Today we take in an average of 2 mg (17 points) through our food.
Salvestrol® Professional 2000 is standardised to 2000 salvestrol points.

Ingredients

Salvestrol® fruit complex (citrus bioflavonoid extract, kabocha squash (Curcubita maxima) extract, grape (Vitis vinifera) extract), Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (capsule shell), rice flour (bulking agent).

Recommended intake

Take 2 x 1 capsule daily with a glass of water with a meal. If you cannot swallow capsules: open the capsule and stir the contents into full-fat yoghurt.

Storage instructions

Store in a cool, dry, dark place (not in the fridge).
