Multi Iron, 90 capsules

Organically bound iron with vitamin B12 and herbs

St. Helia's Multi Iron provides the body with 50% of the daily recommended amount of iron and is therefore an ideal support for the body's iron supply. It also contains vitamin B12 and various herbs.

Energetic and alert with Multi-Iron!

Oxygen, which makes us energetic and alert, is transported in the blood by the "haemoglobin taxi". If this is carrying too little oxygen, iron deficiency can be the cause. A deficiency of vitamin B12 or, more rarely, folic acid can also be a trigger. Symptoms include pronounced tiredness and weakness and, since iron—as with rust—is rather red, a marked paleness of the skin. This can become a problem especially for people who absorb little iron (e.g. vegans) or regularly lose a lot of iron (women before menopause). In such cases taking iron can be sensible. Iron fumarate is better tolerated than many other iron compounds.

Nutritional properties

  • Iron and vitamin B12 contribute to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
  • Iron and vitamin B12 contribute to normal energy metabolism.

FAQ

Multi Iron or Multi Iron Komplex?

Here an original customer question: What do you recommend? Multi Iron or Multi Iron Komplex?

The main difference between the two products is the dosage. If you want to take 7 mg of iron daily, Multi Iron is the right product.
7 mg is a dosage that, for example, people choose who only want to carry out general prophylaxis. So, for example, vegans, women with the ongoing problem of heavy periods, etc.

Multi Iron Komplex contains 14 mg of iron per capsule. This makes sense for people who want/need to take a little more, for example because a mild deficiency already exists. Or people who do not have a deficiency but want to prevent one because they have previous experience with it, e.g. after very heavy menstrual bleeding.
If the doctor has already identified a mild deficiency in the lab report, 14 mg i.e. Multi Iron Komplex would be more advisable. Also people who continuously lose blood due to chronic illnesses (e.g. chronic intestinal inflammations such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis) should regularly supplement iron, in an amount depending on the severity of their symptoms.

Fundamentally:

Iron is absolutely essential and supply should always be adequate. Long-term iron deficiency is harmful to the body and also to the unborn child.
But iron is also a nutrient you must not overdo. Too much iron is equally harmful.
So it is best to take iron only if the doctor has already recommended it or because you have previous experience with medically diagnosed iron deficiency and know that another phase requiring a lot of iron is coming.
People who eat meat and otherwise live healthily and have no particular medical or women's issues usually do not have to take any iron at all.
People who are already feeling very unwell because of their iron deficiency, e.g. with a noticeable anaemia with pallor and fatigue, should primarily follow their doctor's recommendations, and in that case the doctor will probably recommend iron infusions, because the amount of iron needed in an emergency at short notice cannot be absorbed via capsules.
And if the doctor recommends nothing despite clear anaemia, one should change doctors... unfortunately there are quite a few doctors who have very limited knowledge about nutrition and nutrient deficiencies and in such a case do nothing apart from lukewarm advice (Eat more meat...)

On tolerability: Many doctors who are not so knowledgeable prescribe patients, in cases of very severe deficiency, very highly dosed iron preparations from the pharmacy instead of carrying out costly and labour-intensive infusions.
However, iron is rather poorly tolerated by many people, depending on the chemical compound. It is not uncommon for health problems to become worse after taking it than before, for example because one has iron deficiency due to chronic intestinal inflammation, unfortunately not a rare disease. Then you exchange extreme anaemia for extreme intestinal cramps, which in the end is no better for the sufferer...
The chemical compound used by St. Helia Multi Iron Komplex is very well tolerated, even in the 14 mg variant. We have user reports indicating that even with higher or longer intake they had no problems as a result.
For all hypersensitive customers we recommend Eisen Aktiv von Podomedi. This contains iron chelates, which are significantly better tolerated than Multi Iron Komplex with its iron fumarate!
Chelates are generally the highest-quality and best-tolerated compounds with which minerals can be absorbed!

Tolerable Upper Limit

The UL value for iron is not set in Europe. In the USA, the Institute of Medicine has set a Tolerable Upper Intake Level (UL) for iron of 45 mg per day. That is the amount one can take daily over a prolonged period without it leading to health problems.

Who should not take iron?

In general, people who have the not-so-uncommon hereditary disease haemochromatosis (iron storage disease) should not take iron. According to sources, this occurs in between 1 in 200 and 1 in 400 people.
