Yeasts have been central to human civilisation since time immemorial. They are used to refine foods and as important natural substance suppliers. In addition, certain yeast strains possess an enormous wealth of essential building blocks for life.

NATURHEFE on a molasses basis is produced from a yeast strain of the species Saccharomyces cerevisiae that is cultivated exclusively for nutritional purposes and grows in a medium made from sugarcane molasses. A nutrient-preserving drying process inactivates the yeast cells' fermentative activity after harvest.

NATURHEFE on a molasses basis is characterised by its high protein content of an average 50% (with all 8 essential amino acids). It is rich in valuable fibre, including β(1,3)-glucan.
Particularly noteworthy is its high content of the B vitamins folic acid, biotin, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pyridoxine and pantothenic acid. It is no coincidence that yeast is listed as a base ingredient in most vitamin B-complex dietary supplements on the market. B vitamins make important contributions to the normal maintenance of a variety of metabolic functions, but are especially known as "vitamins for the nerves". This enhances any dish — e.g. simply sprinkle over salads, pasta with sauce or similar — which not only improves flavour but also boosts the nutritional value of the food.
