Biotin for skin, hair, energy and mental wellbeing
Biotin, also known as vitamin B8, acts as a coenzyme for carboxylase enzymes. These are involved, amongst other things, in the metabolism of protein, fat and carbohydrates. It therefore helps the body to derive energy from food. Biotin is also important for normal mental function, as it supports the brain and nerve functions associated with memory, concentration and mood. It is also important for healthy mucous membranes, skin and hair.
Biotin works closely with folate, vitamin B5 and vitamin B12, amongst others. If you use or recommend biotin, then you should opt for a combination with a multivitamin or a vitamin B complex.
