Supplying only calcium is no longer appropriate. Calcium is one of the most important elements of bone tissue. As we age and calcium requirements increase, particular attention should be paid to ensuring an adequate calcium intake. Recent findings, however, suggest that a high-dose, single-component supplementation with a single calcium preparation alongside the diet does not appear to be the optimal choice. Another decisive aspect is the stability of the vitamins used in the formulation in the finished product. In other words: after manufacture or opening the packaging, the doses should not decrease and after a certain time the contents should still correspond to the label. Instability is particularly known for vitamin K2. The vitamin K2 content of a product can decrease rapidly, especially in combination with minerals (such as calcium and magnesium) and with certain excipients. It is therefore sufficient to consume only a few milligrams daily to appropriately supplement dietary silicon intake.
