Curcumin-SLCP™: a technological breakthrough
Overcoming the problems of absorption and bioavailability is the most significant challenge in developing curcumin products with optimal efficacy. Curcumin in “unprocessed” form is rapidly converted in the gut and liver after ingestion into inactive metabolites such as curcumin glucuronide, which are quickly excreted by the body. After years of research and collaboration with the University of California (UCLA), Verdure Sciences, the manufacturer of Vitals Curcumin-SLCP™, has succeeded in solving these problems. Thanks to their patented technology they have increased the absorption of curcumin by 65-fold and bioavailability by 285-fold (compared with standard curcumin preparations composed of 95% curcumin). This breakthrough was achieved after numerous different formulations had been tested for their bioavailability in humans. The most effective results were achieved with a formulation originally derived from Indian cooking, where turmeric is combined with oily ingredients when making curry pastes. The curcumin preparation Longvida® uses so-called Solid-Lipid-Curcumin-Particles, in which curcumin is encapsulated in a fat particle composed of three long-chain fats also found in foods: phosphatidylcholine, stearic acid and ascorbyl palmitate.

Ingredients
Curcumin (extract from Curcuma longa), stabilisers (stearic acid, phosphatidylcholine [from soya lecithin]), hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (vegetable capsule), rice starch (Oryza sativa), maltodextrin, anti-caking agents (silicon dioxide, magnesium salts of fatty acids), antioxidant (ascorbyl palmitate).
Dosage recommendation
Take 1 capsule daily with water at a meal.
