Immunformel Pro is a comprehensive formula for the immune system

It contains vitamins A, C and D as well as selenium and zinc – all of these components have a positive effect on resilience in their own way. The amount needed for daily support is contained in just one capsule. If short-term requirements are higher, the dose can temporarily be increased to two capsules per day. The special feature of this product is the high dose of quercetin in the well-absorbable phytosomal form (Quercefit®). This formula is also easy to use, as all these nutrients in these dosages are combined in a single capsule. Therefore, in many cases a single dietary supplement is sufficient to effectively support the immune system. The ingredients for Immunformel Pro were selected, where possible, from high-quality branded sources with the best scientific basis.

Resilience

Interest in the functioning of the immune system has never been as pronounced as it is today. Many people are currently looking for options to maintain their own resilience. The immune system consists of a highly complex network of cells (such as T cells, B cells, natural killer cells and macrophages) and molecules (such as cytokines [messenger substances] and immunoglobulins [antibodies]) that defend the body. It also cares, among other things, for the elimination of waste products that arise in the body. A healthy and varied diet, sufficient exercise and adequate sleep are helpful for an optimal and balanced function of the immune system. For many people it can be sensible to use dietary supplements to increase the intake of certain micronutrients. The immune system functions normally when certain nutrients such as vitamins A, C and D as well as selenium and zinc are present.

Quercetin (Quercefit®)

Quercetin is the ingredient in this product present at the highest dose. Quercetin is one of the most important and thoroughly studied bioflavonoids. Immunformel Pro uses quercetin marketed under the brand name Quercefit® by the Italian company Indena. The dosages of 500 mg and 1000 mg Quercefit® that have already been used in several human studies correspond to these. Quercefit® contains quercetin extracted from the flowers of the Japanese pagoda tree (Sophora japonica). Thanks to the patented Phytosome® technology, Immunformel Pro exhibits a significantly increased absorption and bioavailability of quercetin. The Greek origin of the term phytosome lies in the words phuton (plant) and soma (body). The patented manufacturing process reduces the natural clumping of certain, poorly absorbable phytonutrients (such as quercetin) and combines them with phospholipids (phosphatidylcholine) from sunflower lecithin. The active substances are not enclosed in a capsule (as in liposomes); instead a homogeneous mixture of small, easily absorbable particles is formed. It is true that bioflavonoids (e.g. quercetin) have a natural affinity for phospholipids. Phytosomes are formed, in which the bioflavonoids adhere to the phospholipids. This results in particularly good absorption. The cell membranes (such as those of the small intestine cells) consist of a phospholipid bilayer. This allows these phytosomes to pass through the intestinal wall easily and their active substances enter the bloodstream. Studies show that this Phytosome® technology improves the absorption and bioavailability of quercetin by 10- to 20-fold.

Vitamin A

In the body, vitamin A (retinol) is converted into the active retinoic acid form. In this form it is involved in various biochemical and physiological processes in the cells. Vitamin A contributes to the maintenance of the integrity of epithelial cells throughout the body and thereby supports, among other things, the condition of the mucous membranes (such as in the lungs and gut). Vitamin A is also important for a well-functioning immune system. It promotes the development and growth of T cells and is important for the normal function of other immune cells such as macrophages. Finally, it helps to maintain the balance between T helper cells 1 (Th1) and T helper cells 2 (Th2) – which is important for a balanced immune response. Immunformel Pro is free from beta-carotene (pro-vitamin A) and contains a safe amount of vitamin A. Therefore the body does not need to convert pro-vitamin A into vitamin A.

Vitamin C

In the body, vitamin C functions as a water-soluble antioxidant and is substantially involved in scavenging free radicals. It is part of a complex system that includes endogenous antioxidants, dietary antioxidants and antioxidant enzymes and is characterised by mutual dependencies and interactions. In this role it protects DNA, proteins and lipids from oxidative damage and thus contributes to the maintenance of healthy cells and tissues. Vitamin C also has a positive influence on the immune system: it contributes to the formation and maintenance of the proper function of immune cells. In addition, vitamin C helps to maintain energy metabolism and can help against fatigue. Immunformel Pro contains a basic amount of vitamin C (per capsule 100% of the reference intake), exactly as much as the capsule provides.

Vitamin D3 (Vitamin D3V®)

Vitamin D is a vitamin that is not present in significant amounts in our diet, but is produced primarily by sunlight on the skin. Of course this depends on sufficient sun exposure, which in countries such as the Netherlands or Germany is by no means guaranteed. Vitamin D acts as an immunomodulator. It helps to keep the immune system in a normal balance – neither overactive nor underactive. Vitamin D receptors are found on various cells involved in the immune system, such as T cells, B cells and macrophages. Vitamin D substantially contributes to supporting the immune system. Regarding effectiveness, the form of vitamin D3 as a dietary supplement is clearly to be preferred over vitamin D2. One disadvantage of vitamin D3, however, is that it is normally obtained from sheep wool fat, making it unsuitable for vegans. Immunformel Pro therefore uses a more advanced vitamin D3 form from algae (Vitamin D3V®). Thus Immunformel Pro is also suitable for people who follow a vegan diet. Vitamin K2 (K2VITAL™ DELTA)

The most prominent function of vitamin K in the body is the support of normal blood coagulation. Vitamin K activates certain blood clotting factors that depend on its effect. These ensure that blood clotting occurs optimally – not too quickly and not too slowly. Vitamin K and vitamin D interact in various ways. Therefore it is more optimal to take these nutrients together. There are two forms of vitamin K, with vitamin K2 having a broader range of effects than vitamin K1. There are different forms of vitamin K2, which is also called menaquinone (abbreviated MK). Menaquinone-7 (MK-7) is considered, according to current scientific knowledge, to be the most effective form. MK-7 is well absorbed and remains effective in the body over a long period due to its long half-life. The doses of this vitamin contained in Immunformel Pro have proven effective in clinical studies. The quality of the vitamin K2 used also plays a role, as vitamin K2 is known to be very unstable. The vitamin K2 content of a dietary supplement can decrease rapidly if it is combined with minerals or certain excipients. This of course must be avoided, as the product should ideally be kept effective throughout the entire shelf life. The manufacturer Balchem from Norway has created a raw material for vitamin K2 that is optimally protected against external influences. The K2 is completely encapsulated by a patented micro-encapsulation process, ensuring its stability even in products with aggressive mineral combinations. Selenium

Selenium belongs to the group of essential trace elements. Selenium is present in animal and plant products both in organic form (such as selenomethionine or selenocysteine) and in inorganic form (such as selenite or selenate). The body absorbs organic forms one-and-a-half to twice as well as inorganic forms. In Europe, particularly among vegetarians, selenium intake is generally low. This is mainly because soils in Europe are low in selenium and plants therefore contain less selenium. Selenium has a significant antioxidant effect. Some enzymes (seleno-enzymes), such as glutathione peroxidase (GPx), depend on selenium and contribute substantially to scavenging free radicals. An example is selenium helping to prevent oxidative damage. In addition, selenium supports the immune system by contributing to the formation of T cells. It also helps ensure that natural killer cells function correctly.

Zinc (TRAACS®)

Zinc has a positive effect on the immune system by supporting T-cell production, promoting cytokine production and contributing to the function of natural killer cells. Zinc also helps to protect cells from oxidative damage, among other things through its role in the antioxidant enzymes catalase and superoxide dismutase (SOD). Zinc supports the normal metabolism of vitamin A, thereby interacting with it. Zinc in Immunformel Pro is present as zinc bisglycinate. Each zinc atom is strongly bound to two (bis-) molecules of the amino acid glycine (chelated). Such a compound is generally referred to as an amino acid chelate or amino acid-chelated mineral. The Greek term “chelate” means “claw”. This type of compound was chosen due to its particularly good bioavailability. And Vitals uses only genuine amino acid chelates from Albion Minerals, identified by the brand TRAACS®, which stands for The Real Amino Acid Chelate System. This ensures that a true chelate is present and not merely a combination of a mineral and an amino acid, which some manufacturers erroneously offer as an amino acid chelate.
