Immunformel Pro is a comprehensive formula for the immune system

It contains vitamins A, C and D, as well as selenium and zinc – all of these components have their own positive effects on the body’s defences. The amount required for daily support is contained in just one capsule.  If your needs are higher in the short term, the dose can be temporarily increased to two capsules a day. What makes this product special is the high dose of quercetin in the easily absorbed phytosomal form (Quercefit®).  This formula is also easy to use, as all these nutrients in these dosages are combined in a single capsule. Therefore, in many cases, a single dietary supplement is sufficient to effectively support the immune system.  The ingredients for Immune Formula Pro have, where possible, been selected from high-quality brands with the strongest scientific evidence.

Resilience

Never before has interest in the functioning of the immune system been as pronounced as it is today. Many people are currently looking for ways to maintain their own resilience. The immune system consists of a highly complex system of cells (such as T-cells, B-cells, natural killer cells and macrophages) and molecules (such as cytokines [signalling molecules] and immunoglobulins [antibodies]) that defend the body .  It is also responsible, amongst other things, for eliminating waste products produced within the body. A healthy and varied diet, sufficient exercise and enough sleep are helpful for the optimal and balanced functioning of the immune system.  For many people, it may be beneficial to take dietary supplements to increase their intake of certain micronutrients. The immune system functions normally when certain nutrients such as vitamins A, C and D, as well as selenium and zinc, are present.

Quercetin (Quercefit®)

Quercetin is one of the ingredients in this product present in the highest dosage. Quercetin is one of the most important and thoroughly researched bioflavonoids.  Immunformel Pro uses quercetin, which is marketed under the brand name Quercefit® by the Italian company Indena . The dosages of 500 mg and 1000 mg of Quercefit®, which have already been used in several human studies, correspond to these.  Quercefit® contains quercetin extracted from the flowers of the honey tree (Sophora japonica). Thanks to the patented Phytosome® technology, Immunformel Pro demonstrates significantly enhanced absorption and bioavailability of quercetin.  The Greek origin of the term ‘Phytosome’ lies in the words phuton (plant) and soma (body). The patented manufacturing process reduces the natural tendency of certain, poorly absorbable phytonutrients (such as quercetin) and combines them with phospholipids (phosphatidylcholine) derived from sunflower lecithin. The active ingredients are not enclosed in a capsule (as in liposomes) ; instead, a homogeneous mixture of small, easily absorbed particles is formed. It is true that bioflavonoids (e.g. quercetin) have a natural affinity for phospholipids.  This results in the formation of phytosomes, in which the bioflavonoids bind to the phospholipids. This ensures particularly good absorption. Cell membranes (such as those of the small intestine cells) consist of a phospholipid bilayer. This allows these phytosomes to penetrate the intestinal wall easily, enabling their active ingredients to enter the bloodstream. According to studies, this Phytosome® technology improves the absorption and bioavailability of quercetin by a factor of 10 to 20.

Vitamin A

In the body, vitamin A (retinol) is converted into the active form, retinoic acid. In this form, it plays a role in various biochemical and physiological processes within the cells.  Vitamin A helps to maintain the integrity of epithelial cells throughout the body and thus supports, amongst other things, the health of the mucous membranes (such as in the lungs and intestines). Vitamin A is also important for a properly functioning immune system.  It promotes the development and growth of T cells and is important for the normal function of other immune cells such as macrophages.  Finally, it helps to maintain the balance between T-helper cells 1 (Th1) and T-helper cells 2 (Th2) – which is important for a balanced immune response.  Immunformel Pro is free from beta-carotene (pro-vitamin A) and contains a safe amount of vitamin A. Therefore, the body does not need to convert pro-vitamin A into vitamin A.

Vitamin C

In the body, vitamin C acts as a water-soluble antioxidant and plays a key role in neutralising free radicals .  It is a component of a complex system that comprises the body’s own antioxidants, dietary antioxidants and antioxidant enzymes, and is characterised by mutual dependencies and interactions.  In this role, it protects DNA, proteins and fats from oxidative damage and thus helps to maintain healthy cells and tissues. Vitamin C also has a positive effect on the immune system: it helps to form and maintain the proper function of immune cells.  Furthermore, vitamin C helps maintain energy levels and can help combat fatigue. Immunformel Pro contains a basic amount of vitamin C (100 per cent of the reference intake per capsule), exactly the amount contained in the capsule.

Vitamin D3 (Vitamin D3V®)

Vitamin D is a vitamin that does not occur in significant quantities in our diet, but is produced primarily by sunlight on the skin.  Naturally, this depends on sufficient exposure to sunlight, which is by no means guaranteed in countries such as the Netherlands or Germany. Vitamin D has an immunomodulatory effect. It helps to keep the immune system in a normal balance – neither overactive nor underactive.  Various cells involved in the immune system, such as T-cells, B-cells and macrophages, possess vitamin D receptors. Vitamin D plays a significant role in supporting the immune system.  In terms of effectiveness, vitamin D3 in the form of a dietary supplement is clearly preferable to vitamin D2.  One drawback of vitamin D3, however, is that it is usually derived from sheep’s wool fat, which makes it unsuitable for vegans. Immunformel Pro therefore uses a more advanced form of vitamin D3 derived from algae (Vitamin D3V®).  This means that Immunformel Pro is also suitable for people who follow a vegan diet. Immunformel Pro provides a substantial dose of vitamin D to supplement the diet and the body’s own production through exposure to sunlight.

Vitamin K2 (K2VITAL™ DELTA)

The most prominent function of vitamin K in the body is to support normal blood clotting. Vitamin K activates certain blood clotting factors that rely on its action. These ensure that blood clotting takes place optimally – neither too quickly nor too slowly.  Vitamin K and vitamin D interact with one another in various ways . It is therefore best to take these nutrients together. There are two forms of vitamin K, with vitamin K2 having a more comprehensive effect than vitamin K1. There are different forms of vitamin K2, which is also known as menaquinone (abbreviated to MK) . According to current scientific knowledge, menaquinone-7 (MK-7) is considered the most effective form. MK-7 is easily absorbed and, thanks to its long half-life. The doses of this vitamin contained in Immunformel Pro have been shown to be effective in clinical trials. The quality of the vitamin K2 used also plays a role, as vitamin K2 is known to be highly unstable.  The vitamin K2 content of a dietary supplement can rapidly decrease when it is combined with minerals or certain excipients . Naturally, one would want to avoid this at all costs, as the product should ideally be preserved for the entire duration of its shelf life.  The manufacturer Balchem, based in Norway, has developed a raw material for vitamin K2 that is optimally protected against external influences. The K2 is fully encapsulated using a patented microencapsulation process, ensuring its stability even in products containing aggressive mineral compounds . Following extensive stability tests with various K2 raw materials in different compositions, Vitals has selected K2VITAL™ DELTA as the best vitamin K2 raw material.

Selenium

Selenium belongs to the group of essential trace elements. Selenium is found in animal and plant-based products both in organic form (such as selenomethionine or selenocysteine) and in inorganic form (such as selenite or selenate) .   The body absorbs the organic forms one and a half to twice as well as the inorganic forms.  In Europe, particularly amongst vegetarians, selenium intake is generally low. This is mainly due to the fact that European soils are low in selenium and plants therefore contain less selenium. Selenium has a significant antioxidant effect.  Some enzymes (seleno-enzymes), such as glutathione peroxidase (GPx), rely on selenium and play a key role in neutralising free radicals.  One example is selenium, which helps to prevent oxidative damage . Selenium also supports the immune system by contributing to the formation of T-cells. Furthermore, it helps ensure that natural killer cells function properly.

Zinc (TRAACS®)

Zinc has a positive effect on the immune system by supporting T-cell production, promoting cytokine production and contributing to the function of natural killer cells.  Zinc also helps to protect cells from oxidative damage, partly through its role in the antioxidant enzymes catalase and superoxide dismutase (SOD). Zinc supports the normal metabolism of vitamin A, thereby working in synergy with it.  Zinc is present in Immunformel Pro as zinc bisglycinate. Each zinc particle is strongly bound to two (bis) molecules of the amino acid glycine (chelated).  Such a compound is generally referred to as an amino acid chelate or an amino acid-chelated mineral . The Greek term ‘chelate’ means ‘claw’.  This type of compound was chosen due to its particularly high bioavailability. And Vitals uses exclusively genuine amino acid chelates from Albion Minerals, identified by the TRAACS® brand, which stands for The Real Amino Acid Chelate System.  This ensures that a true chelate is present and not merely a combination of a mineral and an amino acid, which is incorrectly marketed as an amino acid chelate by some manufacturers.

Recommended intake
