Kids Omega 3 Plus Jellies 60 chewy jelly sweets

Kids Omega-3 Plus Jellies from Vitals – the latest hit with children

These unique chewy drops have been developed to contain a high amount of fish oil without tasting too strongly of fish (as is sometimes the case with fruit jellies or other products containing fish oil). Consequently, just one or two chewy jelly drops a day are enough to provide an effective dose of omega-3 fatty acids. As well as a generous dose of the important omega-3 fatty acid DHA for brain and eye health, Kids Omega-3 Plus Jellies contain other essential nutrients such as iodine for healthy growth and good learning ability. Vitamin D is necessary for normal growth and the development of children’s bones. Vitamins C and D help support the immune system.

In short, these chewable jellies are an easy way to provide your children with extra nutrients every day, as a supplement to a healthy diet. They are also suitable for adults who do not like capsules or tablets and who prefer a tasty, chewable dietary supplement to increase their intake of nutrients such as DHA and vitamin D3.

Growing up healthy

For a child to grow up healthy, they need not only the unconditional love of their parents and a safe environment, but above all a healthy lifestyle. This starts with sufficient exercise (ideally often in the fresh air), a restful night’s sleep and a healthy diet rich in fruit and vegetables. In everyday life, however, it seems impossible for both children and adults to consume all the necessary nutrients in sufficient quantities every day. This is particularly true of vitamin D, which is found only in small amounts in food. When it comes to vitamin D, we are essentially reliant on our skin producing it under the influence of sunlight. In Western Europe, the number of hours of sunshine and the intensity of the sun are often insufficient, particularly during the autumn and winter months, so it makes sense for many children and adults to supplement their diet with a vitamin D supplement.

Intake of the essential fish fatty acids docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) is also often insufficient, as many children (and adults) do not like fish. That is why each Kids Omega-3 Plus Jelly from Vitals contains a generous amount of vitamin D3 and DHA (plus EPA). They also contain iodine, an essential trace element for growing children, as well as some vitamin C to support the immune system.

DHA: Good for brain function and eye health

Vitals’ Kids Omega-3 Plus Jellys contain up to 250 mg of DHA (and 50 mg of EPA) per chewable jelly drop. The polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acid DHA is an essential building block of the nerve tissue in our brain. What is less well known is that DHA is also a component of the retina in our eye. The retina is formed from brain tissue during foetal development. This part of the eye therefore remains, structurally speaking, part of our central nervous system. The retina consists of nerve cells, which also have a high DHA content in their membranes. The retina captures the light we perceive and converts it into electrical signals, which are then transmitted to our brain via the optic nerve.

DHA therefore plays an essential role in brain function, but also in vision, in both children and adults. The body is only able to produce DHA from its precursor (the essential omega-3 fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid [ALA]) to a very limited extent. It is therefore necessary to ensure an adequate daily intake of DHA, either by eating fish and/or taking a dietary supplement containing at least 250 mg of DHA. As omega-3 fatty acids are sensitive during processing into dietary supplements, it is generally advisable to choose a high-quality fish oil from a reputable supplier. And this is certainly the case with Kids Omega-3 Plus Jellies. The omega-3 fatty acids in this product are present exclusively in triglyceride form, as this is the form best absorbed by the body.

Vitamin D: good for bones and the immune system

Vitamin D is essential for healthy bone development and the functioning of the immune system.
Vitamin D is normally produced in the skin. In the past, it was common for children to spend enough time outdoors to produce it themselves. Parents who were young in the 70s and 80s will remember spending almost the whole day outdoors; that was the norm back then, and taking vitamin D supplements was unnecessary. Today’s children spend most of their time in front of computers and smartphones. In the long run, a vitamin D deficiency is virtually inevitable.
But vitamin D deficiency in children is not a phenomenon of the modern age. It first became a real problem at the dawn of the industrial age, when rickets – a childhood disease that had previously been almost unknown – became widespread. At first, people were still puzzling over why children were developing crooked bones and visibly wasting away. Until, at some point, it was realised that the cause was a severe vitamin D deficiency, brought about by excessive air pollution in the cities, which meant that sunlight could no longer penetrate. The fact that children had to spend far too much time in dark flats or factory halls only exacerbated the problem.
Fortunately, there is no longer any heavy smog or child labour. Unfortunately, instead, children voluntarily spend the whole day in their rooms in front of their computers. Sadly, the light in a child’s bedroom is not sufficient to stimulate the skin to produce vitamin D.

The best-known function of vitamin D is its role in promoting strong and healthy bones, as it helps ensure, amongst other things, that calcium from food is better absorbed and is available in sufficient quantities in the body to build strong bone tissue. This is particularly important for children, whose skeletons are still developing. However, vitamin D also helps build strong teeth and has a positive effect on children’s immune systems. So that’s just more reasons to ensure an adequate intake of this vitamin. Each chewable gel drop also contains some vitamin C, which helps boost the immune system.

Iodine: supports learning ability and growth

Similarly, the importance of the trace element iodine should not be underestimated. Iodine occurs naturally in seaweed, fish and seafood. It is also added to salt, which is used, amongst other things, in bread-making. This is done because iodine intake in Western Europe tends to be rather low. Nevertheless, people would still need to eat enough bread, and that is not necessarily the case for everyone. Here, too, a dietary supplement can be helpful.

Iodine is important for normal thyroid function. It also plays a role in cognitive function and thus contributes to learning ability and concentration. Finally, it helps children to grow normally. Kids Omega-3 Plus Jellies contain a safe dose of 22.5 μg of iodine per chewable tablet.

Kids Omega-3 Plus Jellies, a revolutionary dietary supplement

These innovative chewable jelly drops were developed in collaboration with the Norwegian manufacturer Vitux. Chewable jelly sweets are becoming increasingly popular, as this form of administration offers many advantages, such as a very pleasant taste and the ability to include more active ingredients than in fruit jellies. Chewable jelly drops offer a further important advantage, particularly for fat-soluble nutrients (such as omega-3 fatty acids). As the patented manufacturing process known as ConCordix ensures that the fatty acids are broken down into very small droplets, they can be absorbed even more effectively by the body. Vitux has drawn inspiration from Mother Nature in this regard. The body itself ensures that dietary fats are properly digested and absorbed by breaking them down into tiny droplets (a process known as emulsification).

Furthermore, this form of chewable jelly drops, combined with special double aluminium packaging, ensures excellent protection of the sensitive omega-3 fatty acids against oxidation. And finally, despite the high dose of fish oil and other nutrients, these chewable jelly drops taste really good. Kids Omega-3 Plus Jellies from Vitals are a great example of how healthy and tasty can go hand in hand!

This food supplement is not suitable for children under 3 years of age. May have a laxative effect if consumed in excess.

Notes from EnergyVital

The drops are really very tasty, so keep them out of children’s reach and explain to them that they are not sweets. However, if a child does manage to get hold of the packet and consume more than is permitted, it’s not a problem. A child could eat a whole pack of 60 drops without this leading to dangerous poisoning. It is not possible to poison yourself with vitamin C; iodine would have to be ingested in the milligram range; and vitamin D is fat-soluble, which means that body fat tissue would easily buffer a single instance of excessive intake. The only side effect would be severe diarrhoea, as xylitol has a laxative effect in large quantities.

As it contains fish gelatine and no gelatine derived from pork or beef, the product should be Halal and Kosher (no guarantee, however, as we are not specialists in such matters).

Storage instructions

Store in a cool, dry place away from light (not in the fridge). As the chewy drops are individually blister-packed, they can be stored for a longer period up to the best-before date, even if a pack has already been opened.
